Joining hands to care for policy beneficiaries during Tết

ĐBP - Guided by the principle of “leaving no one behind,” the various levels of authorities and sectors across Điện Biên province have taken proactive and responsible steps to ensure that policy-favored families and poor households enjoy a warm and fulfilling traditional Lunar New Year (Tết) celebration.

This care for those with meritorious services to the revolution is implemented systematically and professionally, aligning with the preferential policies of the Party and the State. The province currently provides monthly preferential subsidies to over 1,000 individuals with meritorious services and their relatives, utilizing a budget exceeding VND 3.5 billion each month. In an effort to enhance safety and transparency, these payments are now conducted through non-cash methods, which also improves the overall efficiency of the Gratitude Fund and housing support projects for families of martyrs.

During the lead-up to the Tết holiday in 2026, provincial leaders personally visited exemplary policy-favored families and soldiers stationed at the border. These visits provided warm encouragement and meaningful gifts to those in difficult circumstances or living alone. A notable example is Nguyễn Văn Lanh, a resident of Việt Thanh 5 village in Thanh Nưa commune, who is affected by chemical toxins. He regularly receives attention from various levels of authorities during major anniversaries and the Tết holiday. For this spring, representatives from the provincial and commune authorities visited to offer gifts and support, serving as a vital source of motivation for veterans like him to continue living as healthy and useful role models for their children and grandchildren.

Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council Cao Thị Tuyết Lan presents gifts to policy-favored families and poor households in Thanh Yên commune, highlighting the widespread nature of this support.

For the 2026 Tết holiday alone, the province organized gift-giving for 37,806 individuals with a total budget exceeding VND 15.122 billion. This figure includes over VND 500 million dedicated to 1,291 people with meritorious services and representatives of martyr families. Furthermore, the President’s Tết gifts, valued at nearly VND 400 million, were delivered to 1,315 individuals across the province. These gestures reflect a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made for the revolutionary cause and demonstrate the commitment of the local government to its people.

The responsibility of caring for these families extends beyond the government to include various socio-political organizations such as the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), the Veterans’ Association, and the Youth Union. these groups have launched numerous practical activities ranging from mobilizing social funds for gifts to assisting with housing repairs and providing physical labor to help families in need. In many localities, the movement to return gratitude has become a regular and essential part of community life, ensuring that the spirit of the holiday reaches even the most remote border areas.

Caring for policy-favored families is a long-term and consistent mission for the Party, the government, and the people of Điện Biên province. From sentimental gifts to the full implementation of state policies, every action is aimed at providing better care for those who have contributed so much to the nation.
