Ensuring security and order for Lunar New Year

ĐBP - The 2026 Lunar New Year holiday lasted nine days with numerous spring festivities. To ensure safety for residents and tourists participating in entertainment activities, the Điện Biên provincial Police implemented synchronous professional measures, proactively grasping the situation to promptly prevent and combat various types of crime and law violations.

During the holiday, the high demand for travel and tourism led to bustling business and accommodation activities in Điện Biên Phủ ward. In response, the Điện Biên Phủ ward Police increased inspections of lodging establishments to promptly detect and handle security violations. They also focused on guiding owners to strictly follow regulations regarding temporary residence registration, guest management, and fire safety. Nguyễn Việt Đức, owner of the Thịnh Vượng Hotel in Điện Biên Phủ ward, noted that his establishment strictly complies with these regulations to create a safe environment for guests and contribute to general order during the festive days.

Ensuring peace during the holiday involves proactive prevention from an early stage. In Thanh An commune, the synchronized implementation of professional measures helped the local police detect and recover 8 finished fireworks, 186 unfinished fireworks, and 2 homemade guns just before the New Year began. This action eliminated potential law violations and ensured a peaceful life for the residents. Nguyễn Ngọc Hoàng, Deputy Head of the Thanh An commune Police, emphasized that the force focused on encouraging people to voluntarily hand over fireworks, weapons, and explosives while coordinating with local forces to handle violations strictly.

On the New Year’s Eve, as celebrations peaked, the Điện Biên provincial Police mobilized their maximum personnel for 24/24 duty. Units increased patrols and controls at key routes and crowded areas to handle any potential legal violations. Trần Thanh Tùng from the provincial Traffic Police Department shared that during the transition to the New Year, the unit deployed maximum forces at checkpoints and congestion-prone areas to regulate traffic and clear bottlenecks, ensuring smooth travel for the public.

Throughout the Lunar New Year, commune and ward police forces coordinated with professional departments to handle various cases effectively at the grassroots level. Notable successes included the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of 5 bricks of heroin in Mường Nhà commune. Additionally, authorities handled one individual for posting false information online and quickly controlled a fire at a repair workshop in Mường Thanh ward. These efforts collectively ensured a stable security environment, allowing the people of Điện Biên to welcome the new spring in safety and joy.
