Điện Biên hosts AI Day

ĐBP - The AI Day, organized by the People’s Committee of Điện Biên province in collaboration with STEAM for Vietnam and Hanoi University of Science and Technology, took place on May 6 at the provincial Conference and Cultural Center.

The event was attended by Party Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Quốc Cường, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lê Thành Đô, leaders from various departments and agencies, and a large number of teachers and students.

Delegates, along with many teachers, students, and youth union members, attended the AI Day.

The AI Day was part of the campaign to promote artificial intelligence applications in Điện Biên, themed “Điện Biên Phủ Campaign - The Journey to Spread AI.” The campaign aims to raise awareness, foster innovative thinking, and drive the development of science and technology, narrowing the development gap between regions, overcoming geographical, infrastructure, and resource barriers, with a goal of achieving fast and sustainable development.

The event featured a variety of activities, including the launch of the “Điện Biên Phủ Campaign - The Journey to Spread AI” and the “Digital Literacy Movement,” a summary of the “New Generation AI Applications” training course, honoring outstanding projects, experiencing AI technology at exhibition booths, and participating in the Robotics Friendly Tournament with the theme “Campaign 715.”

The AI Day clearly demonstrated the province’s determination to use artificial intelligence technology as an effective tool for economic and social development, fundamentally reforming education, and improving the quality of life. The event also created a space for sharing knowledge and experiences, inspiring innovation, and unlocking technological potential within the community, while shaping strategic directions for the digital transformation process. It was also an opportunity for agencies, organizations, businesses, and residents to access the latest achievements in digital technology, paving the way for comprehensive digitization.

Previously, the province, in collaboration with STEAM for Vietnam, organized the “New Generation AI Applications” training course for core teachers. The course focused on updated knowledge of artificial intelligence, particularly generative AI (Gen AI) in education. The training was well received and had high effectiveness, enhancing the technological capacity of teachers and contributing to the establishment of a modern digital education system.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Lê Thành Đô emphasized the importance of technology in the digital age. The provincial Party Committee, provincial People’s Council, and provincial People’s Committee have recognized that artificial intelligence and digital transformation are not only inevitable trends but also strategic levers for the province’s rapid, sustainable, and comprehensive development. The provincial Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation has developed and issued a specific action plan, closely aligned with Resolution No.57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, while ensuring it is suitable for the province’s practical conditions and advantages.

Launching the “Điện Biên Phủ Campaign - The Journey to Spread AI” and the “Digital Literacy Movement,” Chairman Lê Thành Đô called for the participation of the entire political system, departments, localities, political-social organizations, businesses, and people. Every official and party member should set an example in studying and applying technology. Every educational institution and business should become a center for spreading digital knowledge. And every citizen should actively learn, improve technological skills, and together build a strong, civilized, and developed digital community.

On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to one collective and five individuals with outstanding achievements in organizing the AI Day, training “New Generation AI Applications” for teachers, and honored five individuals with the most outstanding AI application projects from the “New Generation AI Applications” training course.
