Điện Biên - A destination for compassionate hearts

ĐBP - As a borderland at the far west of the country, historically known for its monumental victories, Điện Biên still faces numerous challenges today. With its complex mountainous terrain, many remote and isolated communes and villages lack essential infrastructure, education facilities, and economic development opportunities. With a spirit of sharing, Điện Biên has become a destination for charitable journeys and compassionate hearts.

Since 2024, a series of charitable activities have been carried out in the mountainous districts of the province, bringing with them meaningful and practical projects. Recently, the “Drawing the Future” project by Vietnam’s 2019 Miss World Lương Thùy Linh was completed, renovating and upgrading two schools in Pú Hồng A, B and Huổi Dên hamlets in Pú Hồng commune, Điện Biên Đông district. These schools, which were facing extreme difficulties, had children studying in dilapidated conditions. With a new clean and beautiful appearance, these classrooms have truly become spaces that inspire the students of the highlands.

Sharing why she chose Điện Biên for her project, Miss Lương Thùy Linh said: “I want to reach out to schools in remote areas that still face difficulties in terms of their learning environment. Born in Cao Bằng, a mountainous province in the North, I can somewhat understand the hardships that children in remote regions face. Having had the privilege of traveling and exploring the world, I hope I can inspire them to keep learning and later return to contribute to their homeland.”

This was not just a personal initiative. Miss Lương Thùy Linh hopes that the “Drawing the Future” project will create a ripple effect. “A small swallow cannot bring about spring, but I hope my actions will inspire other individuals and organizations to come to Điện Biên and contribute to the province. I believe in education because only knowledge and ethics can help people grow.”

On May 7, 2025, TikToker Long Chun attended the inauguration of Hồ Chim 2 school under the “Mountain Light” project.

Alongside her project, a group of popular KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) on social media, including Long Chun, Viên BiBi, and Việt Phương Thoa, also collaborated to build a school in Ma Thì Hồ commune, Mường Chà district. Content creator Long Chun shared emotionally: “At times, I complain about minor issues and feel life is unfair. But when I meet children in the highlands who have to climb mountains and cross rivers just to go to school, even risking their lives to learn, I realize how lucky I am. Building another school in Điện Biên is another opportunity for these children to go to school, another opportunity to write their futures.”

It’s not just the story of Miss Lương Thùy Linh or Long Chun. Recently, influential figures such as hot TikToker Tun Phạm have also chosen Điện Biên as a place to carry out charitable activities. Many of them have been involved in trusted community projects such as “Nuôi em” (Feed Children) or “Sức mạnh 2000” (The Power of 2000). This “charity ecosystem” has built hundreds of schools, bridges, and provided boarding meals for poor students, including many disadvantaged areas in Điện Biên.

One visit, a lifetime of love, and that journey of love is being continued by famous individuals in Điện Biên.

From a media perspective, the involvement of celebrities in charitable work in remote areas is significant as it helps “pull media attention” and creates a greater impact with posts that receive tens of thousands of shares, videos attracting millions of views. The stories of the villages and the children of Điện Biên are increasingly heard and understood. This is a form of positive public opinion guidance, bringing the community back to the values of sharing and responsibility.

With their influence, celebrities can mobilize philanthropists, businesses, and sponsors to join in, something that local organizations often struggle to do. Every project carried out through this connection not only solves immediate issues but can also serve as a catalyst for long-term development activities such as improving education, enhancing living conditions, and boosting livelihoods for local people.

The presence of famous personalities in difficult regions like Điện Biên also carries the value of inspiring the younger generation to live with integrity and purpose. When a young person sees their idol undeterred by hardships, ready to go to remote places and help the community, they are motivated to act and become a responsible individual. This is a truly powerful “ripple effect.”

Mùa Chiến Thắng, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Youth Union, said that the “Drawing the Future” project is a meaningful gift for the children of remote areas in the province. Điện Biên is a mountainous province with many economic challenges. Giving students a more spacious, clean, and well-equipped learning environment will help them access knowledge and develop their intellect.

“The collaboration between the Provincial Youth Union and influential figures like Miss Lương Thùy Linh demonstrates the connection between youth and prominent young individuals in society. This contributes to setting an example, spreading the spirit of charity, and encouraging young people, especially Generation Z, to take small actions to create significant changes for the community,” he emphasized the important role of support from famous individuals.

According to Mùa Chiến Thắng, charitable activities not only help students but also inspire local youth. In the future, the provincial Youth Union will continue to build plans to connect with young people, celebrities, businesses, and philanthropists, calling for joint efforts to improve educational conditions and development opportunities for children in the highlands. We hope that each beautiful story like this will continue to be a source of inspiration, so the journey of compassion continues to spread, enabling children in the borderlands to walk confidently on the path to school.
