The rainy season no longer brings slippery, muddy roads; the sunny season no longer brings thick dust - that is the “new look” on the Món Hà village road, Mường Lạn commune. The new image of the Món Hà village road is the result of the joint effort and consensus between the State and people, in which people donated over 2,000m2 of land and structures to build nearly 1km of village road.
Lò Văn Ký, from Món Hà village, shared: ”Before, when it rained, it was flooded with mud. People walking would slip and fall, and trucks carrying corn and cassava would get stuck. Now with the new road, travel is convenient, goods are easy to transport, and it’s safer for our children to go to school.”
According to Lò Văn Ký, in early 2024, the local party committee and government connected and mobilized social mobilization sources to construct the road with a total investment of over VND 2.5 billion. Initially, some households were hesitant about donating land. After the long-term benefits were clearly explained, the households gradually understood and agreed to donate land for the road. As a result, the project was completed on schedule. Since the road was handed over and put into use, everyone in Món Hà village has been overjoyed. Because, in addition to the care of the party committee, government, and philanthropists, the road was also completed thanks in part to the contributions of the villagers themselves.
In many other localities in the province, the movement of donating land for roads, building cultural houses, and repairing spillways and irrigation canals has become a cultural norm in many residential areas. This spirit of joining hands has been replicated and spread to other social security activities. Among them, the voluntary blood donation movement has attracted a large number of people, contributing to saving patients who need the gift of life.
Recently, within the framework of the 2025 “Red Journey” program and the honoring of outstanding blood donors, many individuals and collectives with notable contributions were commended by all levels and sectors. Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vừ A Bằng, Head of the provincial steering committee for voluntary blood donation mobilization, acknowledged and praised the noble gestures of the collectives and individuals who have actively responded to the blood donation movement, spreading a spirit of compassion in the community. The Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee emphasized that the drops of blood given not only help save patients in critical moments but are also a vivid expression of humanity and a beautiful act that brightens the Vietnamese tradition of humanism and mutual support.
As one of the individuals honored at the event, the blood donation journey of Lieutenant Colonel Phạm Chí Dũng, who works at Mobile Police Battalion No. 1, Regiment 24, Mobile Police Command, has entered its 5th year, marking 33 donations of blood and platelets totaling nearly 9,000ml. This is an impressive number that even many volunteers in the medical field find difficult to achieve. Lieutenant Colonel Phạm Chí Dũng shared: “Every time I donate blood, I think that somewhere, someone might need my help. A drop of blood given is another chance at life for someone else, so even though I’m busy with work, I still make time to participate. After each donation, I feel relieved and happy knowing that what I’m doing is truly meaningful.”
In addition to directly donating, Lieutenant Colonel Phạm Chí Dũng also actively communicates with and mobilizes his comrades in his unit, calling on relatives and friends to join. Thanks to these persistent efforts, the voluntary blood donation movement is spreading widely, becoming a regular activity and demonstrating the “serving the people” spirit through concrete, practical actions.
With the characteristic of being a mountainous province where resources for education are limited, school facilities in many highland communes are still inadequate. Understanding these difficulties, for many years, agencies, units, organizations, and individuals have joined hands to connect and donate clothing, school supplies, and financial support to build houses and classrooms for students in remote areas. For example, a delegation from the Academy of Justice visited and presented thousands of gift sets to students in Nậm Nèn commune. At the schools: Nậm Nèn Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding Primary School, Huổi Mí Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding Primary School, Nậm Nèn Kindergarten, and Huổi Mí Kindergarten, the delegation gave 300 national flags, 5 water purifiers, nearly 1,000 backpacks, over 7,800 notebooks, nearly 1,500 comics, books, and legal newspapers, 571 T-shirts, 285 sets of blankets, pillows, and mosquito nets, along with many other school supplies and personal items.
From these practical, concrete actions, the spirit of solidarity and sharing is increasingly being aroused. In particular, the movement “The whole country joins hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind,” with the spirit of “mutual love and affection” and “the good leaves protect the torn leaves,” for many years, all levels, sectors, individuals, organizations, and philanthropists inside and outside the province have always accompanied, shared, helped, and supported through the “For the Poor” Fund, the Relief Fund, and other social security funds, donating hundreds of billions of VND. This helps the poor have a warmer, happier life. This is also the motivation that helps them overcome difficulties and rise up in life.
