Organized by the provincial employment service center in partnership with Điện Biên College, the 2025 job fair drew nearly 500 job seekers and youth union members, along with nine enterprises from both inside and outside the province representing various industries. Recruitment booths offered information on domestic positions as well as opportunities to work overseas under contract. Many of the openings targeted unskilled workers, creating diverse career paths for the local labor force.

For Lò Văn Tuân, a student at Điện Biên College, the event was a chance to explore working abroad after graduation. “I was given detailed advice from companies here, which opened up more possibilities”, Tuân said. “This job fair is the fastest way for us to reach potential employers and be assessed fairly. I now have more choices for a stable job after graduation.”
Cà Thị Lả, a resident of Mường Thanh ward, also came early to explore every booth. “My current job is unstable, so I’m looking for something more secure. I’m especially interested in working in industrial zones in Hải Phòng or Quảng Ninh to earn a steady income”, she said.

Among the recruiters was Tongwei Electronics Co., Ltd. (Hải Phòng), which is hiring assembly workers, product inspectors, engineers, and technicians. Nguyễn Hữu Hưng, head of recruitment at the company, said: “We are seeking 500 general workers and 100 technical staff in the electronics sector. We offer a clean, safe working environment, competitive salaries, and attractive benefits. This is our first time at a job fair in Điện Biên, and we find that students here are well-equipped with the skills and knowledge we need.”
Phạm Văn Thuận, deputy Director of Điện Biên employment service center, noted: “For the 2025 career day, we worked with Điện Biên College and enterprises inside and outside the province to organize nine booths with recruitment needs ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 workers. This has created an important bridge between supply and demand in the labor market.”

Alongside the job fair, the first career day and labor market connection event, held on August 26 by the Điện Biên Phủ ward People’s Committee in cooperation with trading and construction Corporation No.6, attracted nearly 1,000 participants, including students from Điện Biên College and Điện Biên Medical College, local residents, and soldiers from Regiment 82, Division 355 (Military Region 2).
Bùi Anh Tiến, Deputy General Director of the Trading and Construction Corporation No.6 and head of the organizing committee, said: “We have a high demand for workers. Right now, we’re looking to hire 3,000 employees across office work, finance, HR and accounting, as well as in construction, including project managers, engineers, machine operators, drivers, tourism and trade. At our company, pay scales and benefits are transparent. Each year, many workers from Điện Biên leave for jobs in other provinces, so we plan to work with the provincial business Association to expand recruitment and hold more career fairs in towns and communes to keep workers in the local labor market.”

Ly A Sùng, a student at Điện Biên Medical College, found the event highly valuable: “It helped me better understand local labor market demand, how to prepare job applications, and how to find a suitable career path.”
At both the job fair and career day, companies provided clear information on their operations, job openings, requirements, and conditions, while also offering guidance to job seekers. Workers could learn about their rights, obligations, and benefits when applying for jobs with domestic firms or under overseas labor contracts.
More than just recruitment drives, the job fair and career day created career opportunities for thousands of local workers, especially ethnic minority youth. Stable jobs and incomes are seen as key to sustainable poverty reduction, better living standards, and stronger socio-economic development in Điện Biên province.
