Bringing warm Tết to highland communities

ĐBP - As the 2026 Bính Ngọ Lunar New Year (Tết) and the vibrant atmosphere of spring begin to fill the air, the National Assembly Delegation of Điện Biên province has organized numerous activities to visit and present gifts to poor households and those facing difficult circumstances across the province.

Navigating steep and winding mountain passes, the delegation personally delivered practical gifts, contributing their efforts to ensure a more sufficient spring for compatriots in highland and border areas.

On their journey to difficult highland communes such as Na Son, Mường Luân, Xa Dung, Mường Nhà, and Tủa Chùa, where life remains challenging for many, the Deputys took the time to cordially inquire after the residents and encourage them. Thousands of Tết gift sets were handed over directly to the people. While these offerings may be modest in scale, they carry deep sentiments of solidarity and provide vital encouragement to poor households, union members, and families who have been severely affected by natural disasters and heavy rains.

The Deputys spent time visiting households to learn about their health, living conditions, and production activities. They listened to the thoughts and aspirations of the people, sharing the burdens they face in developing their family economies and stabilizing their lives. In Na Son commune alone, 150 poor and disadvantaged families received Tết gifts from the provincial National Assembly Delegation. These gifts were presented directly to the people at the communal cultural house in an atmosphere filled with warmth and gratitude.

National Assembly Deputy Tạ Thị Yên, Deputy Chairwoman of the Board of Deputy Affairs of the National Assembly, and Deputy Lò Thị Luyến, Deputy Head of the provincial National Assembly Delegation, present gifts to poor households in Núa Ngam commune.

“My family is still facing many shortages, and shopping for Tết is usually a very frugal affair. The timely concern and support from the National Assembly Deputys help my family have better conditions to prepare for a more complete Tết holiday,” shared Ly A Sầy, a resident of Keo Lôm 1 village in Na Son commune, while holding the support funds.

Quàng Văn Phong, Chairman of the Na Son commune People’s Committee, noted that the attention from the provincial National Assembly Delegation right before the Lunar New Year serves as a great source of motivation for both the local authorities and the struggling families. These gifts reinforce the spirit of unity and create a driving force for residents to actively engage in labor and production to strive for a more prosperous life.

The warm atmosphere has spread to many other localities within the province. Early in the morning, Lò Văn Triệu from Pá Nậm village in Mường Luân commune arrived at the communal cultural house to join in the joy of receiving Tết gifts. The road to the center of the commune was lively with footsteps, conversations, and sincere handshakes, making the spring spirit feel closer to every home. Lò Văn Triệu expressed that these meaningful gifts provide his family with the means to prepare a more adequate Tết, and he remains committed to working hard to ensure his children can continue their study.

During this year’s Tết season, the provincial National Assembly Delegation also coordinated to present practical gifts to trade union members in difficult circumstances, policy-beneficiary families, and those impacted by floods and landslides. This timely assistance helps share the losses and encourages families to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, quickly stabilize their production, and improve their quality of life.

“In the days leading up to Tết, my family still had many worries after the natural disasters. The timely care and support from the Party, the government, and the Deputys have given us more motivation to overcome difficulties and welcome a warmer Tết,” said Lường Văn Ngoan from Yên 2 village in Mường Phăng commune.

These practical activities by the provincial National Assembly Delegation have significantly contributed to caring for the material and spiritual lives of highland compatriots during the holiday. They clearly demonstrate a sense of responsibility toward voters and a deep connection with the people. Furthermore, these efforts help Điện Biên province mobilize resources to ensure social security, spread the spirit of sharing, and reinforce community trust, ensuring that every family can celebrate the Tết holiday with warmth and sufficiency.
