Accompanying the poor

ĐBP - Promoting the spirit of “mutual love and affection” and “the good leaves protect the torn leaves,” the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in the province have actively mobilized resources to join hands in supporting the poor and people in difficult circumstances. Through many practical and effective support activities, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have accompanied them, helping them overcome difficulties, rise up to stabilize their lives, and contribute to ensuring social security in the area.

With the goal of “joining hands to support the poor, leaving no one behind,” every October, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in the province launch the “For the Poor” Peak Month (from October 17 - November 18) to mobilize the entire political system, agencies, units, businesses, organizations, and individuals to participate in supporting and creating resources to care for the lives of the poor.

Promoting the “sharing food, sharing clothing” spirit of the Vietnamese people, the “For the Poor” Fund at all levels in the province has received joint contributions and support from many collectives and individuals inside and outside the province. In the past year (from October 2024 to mid-September 2025), the “For the Poor” Fund at all levels in the province received over VND 92.6 billion in donations. Of this, over VND 14.1 billion came from the Central “For the Poor” Fund; localities, units, and businesses outside the province contributed over VND 76 billion; and organizations and individuals within the province supported with over VND 2.2 billion.

In mid-October, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee called for support for the “For the Poor” Fund and the implementation of social security during the “For the Poor” Peak Month of 2025. The motto for support is “Give what you can, big or small.” This encourages officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers in agencies and units to donate one day’s salary; state-owned enterprises to donate from VND 5 million, private enterprises from VND 2 million, urban households from VND 50,000, and rural households from VND 30,000.

The allocation and use of the “For the Poor” Fund have been implemented effectively, for the right beneficiaries and purposes. From the mobilized funds, the “For the Poor” Fund Mobilization Boards at all levels have allocated over VND 83 billion to implement support activities for the poor. Specifically, support was provided for the new construction and repair of 1,313 houses for policy-beneficiary families, people with meritorious service to the revolution, and poor households, with a total amount of over VND 75.4 billion. Nearly 5,900 gift packages were given to poor households, and 1,338 gift packages to disadvantaged students, with an implementation cost of over VND 3.5 billion. Support was also provided for building livestock sheds, purchasing breeding buffaloes and cows, and buying cardamom seedlings for 33 households.

The family of Lò Văn Toàn is a poor household in Huổi Lực hamlet, Tủa Chùa commune. For many years, his family had to live in a temporary, dilapidated house. Toàn said: “I am sick and my health is weak, so I cannot work. My wife and child only farm the fields, so our income is low. Our family’s stilt house, despite being severely degraded, we had no money to repair.” Faced with the family’s difficult situation, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels connected with a sponsor to support the family with VND 50 million to eliminate the temporary house. After construction, the spacious 80m² stilt house was completed, helping my family stabilize our lives and strive to escape poverty.

To promptly care for poor households and participate in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, storms, and floods in the area, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee actively mobilized and connected with units, organizations, and individuals to implement support activities for the poor, such as giving gifts, clothes, providing free medical examinations, and distributing medicine. Facing the severe impacts of the floods that occurred in late July and early August in the province, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee launched a campaign to support the people affected by the natural disaster. As a result, 6,339 organizations and individuals participated, donating over VND 68 billion. This resource has helped households who suffered losses in life, homes, and property to gradually overcome difficulties and quickly stabilize their lives.

Mùa A Vảng, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, affirmed: “The work of caring for the poor is always a focus of the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels, implemented through the mobilization of resources for support activities. Accompanying the poor over the years, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have had many practical and effective assistance activities, helping poor households to gradually rise up. Building on these achievements, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels will continue to mobilize and call for resources to share with and support the poor, leaving no one behind, and contributing to the goal of poverty reduction and ensuring social security in the province.”
