At the beginning of the year, Nậm Pồ district launched emulation movements in all sectors, implementing them from the district level to the grassroots. The emulation and reward work has become substantive and synchronized in all four stages: identification, nurturing, summarizing, and replicating exemplary models. The patriotic emulation movements in Nậm Pồ have been widely implemented, with diversity and practicality, focusing on the grassroots level. Through this, the spirit of unity, striving, and achieving important comprehensive results across all fields has been promoted.
In the economic sector, emulation movements in agriculture, forestry, industry, commerce, and services have been actively supported by local units and communities. The results of these movements have significantly contributed to the successful realization of economic-social development goals and the improvement of people’s living standards in the district. By the end of 2024, the poverty rate had decreased to 42.16%, and it is projected to fall to 37.63% by the end of 2025, exceeding the set target.
To make the emulation movements effective, Nậm Pồ district has focused on innovating the organization and direction of the movements to suit local realities. Many movements have gone in-depth, with quality, effectiveness, and high social mobilization, such as “The whole country unites to build new rural areas,” “For the poor, no one is left behind,” “The whole people unite to build cultural life,” “Add a good job every day,” and “Weekend volunteer days.” This has created the atmosphere of “Everyone emulates, every sector emulates,” encouraging all levels of government and people to actively engage in labor and production.

Notably, the movement “The whole country unites to build new-style rural areas” has been promoted by the district’s Party committees and authorities, making flexible use of investment capital sources, focusing on building mechanisms and policies, project approval, construction, and allocation of investment plans. The focus has been on implementing new rural area building with creative methods tailored to local conditions, prioritizing feasible tasks that generate widespread impact among people. By the first quarter of 2025, the district had one commune (Chà Nưa) achieving all 19 criteria, three communes meeting 15-18 criteria, 30 villages and hamlets achieving new rural standards, and two model new rural hamlets. On average, communes achieved 12.33 criteria, exceeding the set target by 0.86 criteria per commune.
In terms of infrastructure development, Nậm Pồ district has adopted many creative and effective methods, focusing on investing in key projects that serve the needs of life and production for people. Currently, the rate of social roads and roads from commune centers to district roads are asphalted or concreted, ensuring year-round smooth travel for vehicles; 89.5% of households have access to the national power grid; and 15/15 communes have solidified party committees, people’s councils, and commune government offices.
From the patriotic emulation movements in Nậm Pồ district, many exemplary models have emerged, particularly in social life. These are models of perseverance, creativity, self-reliance, self-strengthening, applying scientific and technological advances, and refusing to live in poverty to rise up and make an honest living.
To develop the economy, Lèng Thị Chiên, Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Nà Sự village, Chà Nưa commune, boldly took out a loan from the Vietnam Social Policy Bank to build a farm for raising black pigs, cattle, and cultivating rice. She actively participated in training courses organized by the Women’s Union of the commune and district. Now, her farm has nearly 50 pigs, 2 cows, and hundreds of poultry, generating a steady income of nearly VND 80 million per year. To inspire the spirit of hardworking labor among her fellow women members, Chiên has researched and referenced innovative ways of doing business from women across the country to share these ideas during village meetings and social gatherings. Currently, the poverty rate among women members has reduced to 3 out of 123 households; many women have become economically self-sufficient and have become exemplary prosperous households in the village and commune.
“Learning and following Uncle Hồ’s example does not mean doing something distant, but starting with meaningful and practical deeds that benefit the village, the community, society, and everyday life,” said farmer Giàng A Chớ from Sân Bay village, Si Pa Phìn commune. Chớ and his family voluntarily donated 500 square meters of land to build a concrete road. “There are many families in the village who have voluntarily donated land to build roads, not just me. Having convenient roads will allow the economy to grow, facilitate trade and transportation of goods, and make it easier for children to go to school,” he shared.
The patriotic emulation movements in Nậm Pồ district have had many positive changes, innovating and being creative in their organization and implementation across various fields. These movements have contributed to "igniting the flame" and becoming a spiritual driving force, strongly motivating the successful completion of economic-social development targets and ensuring national defense and security in the district.
