The Border Post of the Huổi Puốc Border Gate manages and protects a national border segment 41.833km long with 16 markers. The area consists of 1 border commune, 28 villages, with 2,039 households and 9,722 people belonging to 6 ethnic groups.

Lieutenant Colonel Vì Văn Tiên, Deputy Political Officer of the border gate, said: Implementing Directive No.01/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on promoting the movement “All people participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in the new situation,” recently the movement has received positive response from a large number of people. Thereby creating a deep and wide spread, mobilizing the combined strength of the entire political system and the people in self-management of border lines and landmarks, maintaining security and order in border areas. People of ethnic groups coordinate closely with the border guard force to firmly protect territorial sovereignty and national border security.

From the beginning of the year until now, the unit has coordinated to organize 41 propaganda sessions with 1,846 turns of listeners on the Party’s guidelines and lines, the State’s policies and laws, the Law on National Borders, the Law on Vietnam Border Defense... Through dissemination and legal education activities, people’s awareness has been raised; strictly complying with State laws and land border regulations, detecting unusual activities and events to report to the Border Guard force and local authorities for timely handling.

The Border Guard force of Điện Biên province manages and protects a national border line 455.573km long with 2 border routes (Vietnam - China 40.861km long; Vietnam - Laos 414.712km long). The border area consists of 15 especially difficult communes, 450 villages, 3 residential groups (of which 320 are especially difficult villages), with a total of 42,518 households with 202,277 people belonging to 17 ethnic groups living there.

With the role of a core, specialized force in border management and protection, the provincial Border Guard Command has done well in advising the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee to strengthen leadership, direction, and effective implementation of management work, protecting sovereignty and security, building a border of peace, friendship, and cooperative development.

Professional divisions and border guard stations timely advise the provincial Border Guard Command to coordinate with local party committees, authorities, and relevant forces to direct the implementation of centralized and individual propaganda on loudspeakers of border villages and communes, through “Border Guard Speakers” and theatrical forms... That propaganda method raises the awareness of the masses to comply well with the guidelines and lines of the Party, and policies and laws of the State.

Border Guard units propagated, mobilized, and guided 17,365/28,249 households in 300 villages to sign commitments on forest fire prevention and fighting in the 2024 - 2025 dry season; mobilized to seize 1 military gun, 135 homemade guns; propagated against free migration and illegal entry and exit to 53 households/212 people and 16 cases.

Promoting the spirit of “mutual affection and love,” the provincial Border Guard Command mobilized 380 turns of officers and soldiers, and 37 vehicles to coordinate closely with party committees, authorities, and forces in the area to directly support 96 households with 289 people in relocating, rebuilding houses, transporting assets, and cleaning up mud and soil caused by landslides spilling into houses. At the same time, promoting propaganda and mobilizing people to move to safe places; timely transporting, receiving, and distributing relief necessities from units and organizations to the people, contributing to stabilizing life and consolidating people’s trust.

The provincial Border Guard Command directed border guard stations to strengthen border protection patrols; rotating to preside over and coordinate with functional forces of the other side to organize bilateral patrols, joint patrols, and law enforcement on the border. The patrol organization process strictly complied with foreign affair principles, ensuring security and safety in all aspects. Organizing unilateral border protection patrols 276 times/1,932 turns of people participating; coordinating with functional forces of the opposite side for bilateral patrols 30 times/360 turns of officers and soldiers.

In the fight against drug crimes, the drug and crime prevention force of the provincial Border Guard presided over and coordinated closely with functional forces to detect and arrest 91 cases with 100 subjects. In which, establishing and successfully fighting 7 special projects, dismantling many lines and groups operating sophisticatedly and recklessly. Exhibits seized included 4.967kg of heroin, 159,679 synthetic drug pills, 10.315kg of opium, 1 car, 10 motorbikes, 12 mobile phones, and many other related exhibits. This result contributes importantly to restraining and reducing drug crimes in border areas, maintaining security and order, and protecting a peaceful life for the people. At the same time, affirming the core and specialized role of the Border Guard force in fighting crime on the border route.

It can be affirmed that in any circumstance, the Border Guard force is always a solid fulcrum at the Fatherland’s frontier. With steadfast political mettle, high sense of responsibility, and fleshy attachment to the people, border guard officers and soldiers stick to the border day and night, firmly protecting sovereignty and border security, accompanying the locality in socio-economic development, natural disaster prevention, and maintaining a peaceful life for the people. Soldiers at the border have been contributing to building a solid “people’s heart posture” and “all-people border defense posture.”
