ĐBP - Walking through Mường Ảng commune in the early days of spring, one can clearly sense the expanded atmosphere following the recent administrative merger.

Mường Ảng was established through the merger of Mường Ảng town, Ẳng Cang commune, and Ẳng Nưa commune, forming a unified administrative unit with a population of over 17,000 people spread across approximately 86.87 square kilometers. This new territory brings together diverse ecological regions and unique landscapes, alongside an infrastructure, trade, and service system that is gradually developing, creating significant room for growth. In 2025, the socio-economic landscape of Mường Ảng continued to see many positive changes, with the average per capita income reaching VND 51.6 million per year and the poverty rate dropping to 9.55%. To date, the commune has achieved 15 out of 19 New Rural Development criteria, maintaining one model village and nine standard new rural villages.

Hà Thị Thanh Tâm, Chairwoman of the Mường Ảng commune People’s Committee, shared that the merger was not merely an adjustment of boundaries but an opportunity to restructure development space, streamline the apparatus, and improve the effectiveness of state management. Agriculture continues to be the pillar of the local economy, with a focus on deep development, the application of science and technology, and value chain links. On the hills of this “coffee capital,” the joy of local residents was doubled last year as coffee was harvested with high yields and prices while officially being granted a Geographical Indication, a “passport” that affirms the brand’s prestige in the market.

Coffee is the primary crop of Mường Ảng commune.

With an area of over 1.3 hectares, the family of Nguyễn Xuân Hồng in Residential Group 3 earned an income of over VND 400 million from the 2025 coffee harvest. He noted that the high yield and stable prices have been incredibly encouraging, and the new certification has motivated farmers to invest in sustainable, quality-focused care. For the 2025-2030 period, the commune aims to expand the coffee area to 2,300 hectares, replant aging trees, and develop over 1,000 hectares of macadamia and fruit trees to provide shade for coffee, forming integrated raw material areas.

Transport infrastructure has also improved, with the hardening rate of communal and inter-village roads reaching over 78%. Key projects such as the Ẳng Cang reservoir and the major 42m-27m urban axis roads have been completed and put into use, transforming the face of the commune’s center. Mai Văn Huynh, a local Party Cell Secretary, noted that improved infrastructure has encouraged people to invest in economic development and civilize their residential areas. Looking toward 2030, the commune is focusing on attracting investment to create breakthroughs, with a total social investment goal of over VND 1.2 trillion.

Key future projects include the Mường Ảng Wind Power Plant with a capacity of 108MW, the 20MW Floating Solar Power project at Ẳng Cang Reservoir, a central trade and service center, and a community tourism site in Mánh Đanh village. These initiatives are projected to create over 1,000 jobs for local workers. With high political determination and the consensus of its people, Mường Ảng is striving to become a bright spot in the province’s economic development, affirming its position as a dynamic and potential-rich locality.
