The Điện Biên Phủ historical relic cluster remains a favored destination for tourists during every holiday. On the occasion of National Day on September 2, the Điện Biên Phủ Museum proactively prepared conditions to welcome visitors early, while decorating numerous relic sites with the crimson of the National Flag, creating a solemn, brilliant atmosphere during these significant festive days.

Vũ Thị Tuyết Nga, Director of the Điện Biên Phủ Museum, stated that the unit mobilized social contributions to purchase over 1,000 national flags to decorate historical relic sites, focusing on the Mường Thanh Bridge Relic, the pathway leading up to the Điện Biên Phủ Victory Monument, and the Him Lam Resistance Center Relic.

The crimson color of the National Flag stands out against grounds marking heroic historical pages, creating a solemn focal point and enhancing destination appeal. In that moment, each visitor gains a deeper appreciation of history, the homeland, the country, and national pride.

Beyond historical relics, streets and numerous residential areas across the province are also adorned with red flags and yellow stars. Many stores and cafes are decorated according to National Day themes. Across communes and wards within the province, routes bathed in the vibrant red of the National Flag create picturesque spaces, attracting people to visit, take photos, and capture memorable holiday moments.

In Mường Thanh ward, rows of national flags flutter in the sun along roads lined with purple flowerbeds. Flanked on both sides by lush green fields, the setting forms a harmonious, peaceful landscape. During the holiday, this spot has become a popular gathering point for young people to visit, take photos, and preserve memorable moments.

Dressed in traditional Hmông attire, Sùng Thị Thương from Mường Nhé commune, alongside her friends, captured moments beneath the rows of national flags. Sùng Thị Thương shared: “For the Hmông ethnic community, Independence Day carries a very special meaning. This is an occasion for everyone to gather, meet, and celebrate together. This year, everywhere I go, I feel people’s joy and excitement for National Day. Wearing traditional costumes and capturing beautiful memories with friends along the national flag route makes me feel very happy and proud.”

Alongside vibrant flags, Điện Biên offers numerous cultural activities and lively experiences during the holiday. The centerpiece is Folk Dance Festival 2026 under the theme “Connecting Cultures - Spreading Peace - Reaching Integration,” bringing together 35 competing teams. Dynamic performances create an exchange space where teams meet and connect through the shared language of music and dance.

Within the festival framework, the hot-air balloon experience offers a fresh way to discover Điện Biên. From an altitude of 30 to 50 meters, participants can view the provincial center and take in panoramic sights of the historic land.

Nguyễn Hà Ngân, a tourist from Hà Nội, shared: “Arriving in Điện Biên right during the holiday, I clearly feel the excitement of National Day. From the streets to the attractions, everywhere is vibrant with red flags and yellow stars. In particular, this holiday offers many appealing cultural activities and experiences, making the trip all the more memorable with a lively, welcoming, and vibrant festive atmosphere.”

From flag-lined avenues and decorated historical sites to a vibrant series of cultural experiences, Điện Biên dons an energetic, radiant look during the National Day celebrations. Each fluttering flag not only beautifies the landscape, but also awakens national pride, heroic history, and love for the homeland in every person’s heart.
