Candidates for 16th National Assembly meet voters in Mường Thanh ward

ĐBP - Continuing the program to collect voters’ comments and their vote of confidence in candidates running for the 16th National Assembly for the 2026-2031 term, on the afternoon of March 3, the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Điện Biên province organized a meeting for Candidate Group No.1 at the Mường Thanh ward Convention Center.

The group, running for the 16th National Assembly for the 2026-2031 term, was led by Trần Tiến Dũng, Member of the Party Central Committee and provincial Party Secretary. The conference was held in person at Mường Thanh ward and connected online to 13 locations including Mường Phăng, Thanh Nưa, Thanh Yên, Sam Mứn, Thanh An, Núa Ngam, Mường Nhà, Pu Nhi, Na Son, Xa Dung, Mường Luân, Tìa Dình, and Phình Giàng.

The meeting was attended by members of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, leaders of the provincial People’s Council and People’s Committee, and representatives from various provincial departments alongside a large number of voters.

Candidate Group No.1 consists of five members, including Trần Tiến Dũng; Lò Thị Luyến, Deputy Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Điện Biên; Nguyễn Tiến Thiện, Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and high-ranking official of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Lò Thị Dậu, a specialist at the Tủa Chùa commune Fatherland Front; and Lường Thị Nguyên, a member of the Inspection Committee of the Tuần Giáo commune Party Committee.

During the session, the Standing Board of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee presented brief biographies of the candidates. Following this, the candidates presented their action plans for the entire term, expressing a firm commitment to use their wisdom and sense of responsibility to represent the will and aspirations of the people. They emphasized that if elected, they would increase direct contact with voters to accurately reflect their opinions to the National Assembly. A primary focus of their plans involves proposing the modification of policies to better suit the lives of ethnic minorities in mountainous and border areas like Điện Biên. They also committed to advocating for mechanisms that promote socio-economic development, ensure national defense, and protect the rights of women and children.

Voters at the meeting raised several urgent requests, specifically urging the province to accelerate investment preparations to begin construction on the Sơn La - Điện Biên - Tây Trang expressway project. They also suggested that the province research and issue specific mechanisms to attract investment and more effectively exploit local advantages. Concerns were raised regarding the preservation and restoration of historical relics within the Điện Biên Phủ Battlefield. Additionally, citizens asked for a review of policies and allowances for officials in the Fatherland Front and mass organizations, while also calling for the effective implementation of the two-level local government model.

Representing Candidate Group No.1, Trần Tiến Dũng provided specific updates on the progress of the Sơn La - Điện Biên - Tây Trang expressway, noting the expected commencement dates for several project components. He shared solutions currently being implemented by the province to boost investment and tourism while leveraging local potential. Furthermore, he noted that the province would propose unique policies to attract social resources, particularly in the agricultural sector. Regarding allowances for organization officials, he assured voters that the province would continue to summarize these suggestions for the National Assembly and relevant authorities to resolve.
