Through specific and practical actions, the Border Guard has contributed to consolidating the people’s trust, strengthening the great national unity, and building an increasingly firm all-people border defense to maintain peace at the nation’s gateway.
The Command of the provincial Border Guard manages and protects a national borderline spanning 455.573km. As the core force specialized in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security, the provincial Border Guard identifies close ties with the people as the key factor in building an all-people border defense.
To achieve this, the Command focuses on leading and directing grassroots units to increase the number of officers who stay in the field to grasp local situations. They assign Party members to be in charge of households, participate in village Party cell meetings, and proactively advise local Party committees and authorities on socio-economic development associated with ensuring national defense and security. These efforts are coupled with promoting legal education and effectively implementing programs to help people develop production, eradicate hunger, reduce poverty, and build new rural areas, while also providing timely support for natural disaster recovery.
The provincial Border Guard regularly maintains and improves the quality of Party members from border posts who participate in village Party cell activities and directly take charge of households in border areas. Currently, the force has 83 Party members assigned to participate in 83 border village Party cells and 342 Party members who monitor and assist 1,396 households. Through periodic meetings and by capturing the thoughts and aspirations of the people while accompanying grassroots Party committees in implementing tasks, these Border Guard Party members have contributed to consolidating the leadership capacity of village Party cells and strengthening the close bond between the military and the people.
In terms of economic development, the Border Guard has advised Party committees and authorities while coordinating with local mass organizations to effectively implement government and provincial resolutions on socio-economic development and poverty reduction. A notable example is the “Soldier’s Rice Jar” model, through which Border Guard units supported border households with 5,400kg of rice in 2025. Furthermore, through programs like “Accompanying Border Women” and “Border March,” the provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with the Women’s Unions of Hưng Yên and Điện Biên provinces to donate 19 computer sets, 4 printers, 1 livelihood model, 1 “Compassion Home,” and 263 gifts to disadvantaged students and “border post adopted children,” with a total value of VND 697.5 million.
Regarding the “Step Up Your School Path - Border Post Adopted Children” program for the 2024-2025 school year, units under the provincial Border Guard actively mobilized resources to provide support for 78 students with a total budget of VND 468 million. Additionally, they adopted 26 children under the “Border Post Adopted Children” model, ensuring they have favorable conditions for living and studying. Under the project “Military Officers and Soldiers Step Up Your School Path,” the provincial Border Guard has adopted and supported 182 students who are from ethnic minorities living in border areas facing difficult circumstances.
Thoroughly grasping the motto of clinging to the terrain and the people, the Nậm Nhừ Border Post has proactively participated in developing the economy, culture, and society in the border area over the past years. From supporting livelihoods and taking care of social security to improving the material and spiritual lives of the people, the unit’s officers and soldiers have contributed to building a solid “people’s heart disposition.” Between 2015 and 2025, the unit supported more than 1,500 tons of rice for poor households in the border area and contributed 1,361 workdays to help locals increase production. They also provided more than 2,000 fruit trees to poor households with a total value of nearly VND 1 billion, helping 27 households escape poverty.
Promoting the qualities of “Uncle Hồ’s Soldiers” with the emulation spirit of “Speed - Victory,” the Border Guard has stood side by side with local authorities and mass organizations to “carry houses up the mountains” for border residents. The units mobilized officers and soldiers to contribute 1,186 workdays to help transport materials, build foundations, and construct 2,132 houses, including 1,735 new constructions and 397 repairs, completing them on schedule in August 2025.
Lò Văn Thương from Na Khoang village, Mường Nhà commune, excitedly shared that thanks to the care and support of local Party committees, authorities, and the Border Guard, his family’s new, solid house has been completed, providing a great source of encouragement for them to feel secure in their labor and strive for a better life. Practice shows that when the people’s hearts are consolidated, trust is strengthened, and the great unity of ethnic groups is promoted, territorial sovereignty and national border security will be protected firmly and proactively. This is the sustainable foundation for building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
