The unit has left no stone unturned, meticulously reviewing and perfecting everything from technical shooting ranges and explosive zones to camouflage pits and obstacle courses. A highlight of this year’s preparation is the newly completed live grenade-throwing range, which features reinforced mobile trenches and a high-precision scoring system designed to ensure both trainee safety and absolute accuracy.
Captain Giàng A Vàng, Commander of Company 2, noted that the training field is the ultimate decider of quality. Following this philosophy, the unit mobilized all personnel to reinforce tactical ranges, ensuring that bunkers, trenches, and fence systems are not just symbolic but “combat-ready.” The goal is for training to begin seamlessly, without the need for mid-course adjustments or corrections. This physical readiness is complemented by a robust physical training infrastructure, including swimming pools, bars, and a comprehensive obstacle circuit, creating a seamless loop of technical and tactical conditioning.
This year, the battalion has taken a proactive approach to modernizing its equipment. Senior Captain Thào A Lồng, the battalion’s Political Officer, highlighted that many training aids have been rebuilt to be more durable and realistic. This includes specialized sound and light simulation kits for night training, which are essential for teaching recruits how to handle high-pressure situations in low-visibility environments.
Beyond the hardware, the battalion has prioritized the “human element” by selecting a specialized cadre of officers to lead the new recruits. Priority was given to officers with extensive experience in managing and mentoring fresh soldiers. These leaders have undergone rigorous training to unify their teaching methods and strengthen their psychological management skills, particularly for the squad and platoon leaders who will be living and working alongside the recruits daily.
The battalion has assigned three specific companies to handle recruit training. At Company 3, Captain Đặng Minh Phong shared that his unit has already modernized its entire system of record-keeping, lesson plans, and training schedules. With one technical range, one tactical range, and a dedicated physical training area per company, the infrastructure is perfectly scaled. The lesson plans for the opening week have already been reviewed and approved, ensuring that the battalion hits the ground running.
This comprehensive, synchronized preparation, backed by years of experience in molding new soldiers, provides a solid foundation for Infantry Battalion 1 to achieve its 2026 mission goals with excellence.
