As a reporter for the Điện Biên Phủ Newspaper, I not only immerse myself in the glorious atmosphere of the nation but also have the opportunity to meet many historical witnesses and take part in promoting the events and activities within the celebration programs. Through these experiences, I have sharpened my journalistic skills, deepened my knowledge, and cultivated my pride and love for my homeland and country.
I vividly remember the days in 2024 when the entire country turned its attention to Điện Biên. As both a native of this historical land and a journalist, I told myself that I must strive harder, be more responsible in my work of disseminating information. I explored many topics and wrote numerous articles about the glorious Điện Biên Phủ campaign, the history of the heroic land of Điện Biên, the brave individuals who made the victory possible, the beautiful images of the land and people of modern-day Điện Biên, and the story of Điện Biên as it advances along its journey of innovation. I had the privilege of meeting and listening to the memories and stories of former soldiers who fought in Điện Biên and are now living in the province, such as veterans Phạm Ngân, Nguyễn Văn Chứa, Bùi Văn Tỉnh, Phạm Đức Cư... These are people who devoted their entire lives to this remote borderland; at the age of 18 or 20, they volunteered to go to the frontlines, not fearing the bombs and bullets, to liberate this land. Later, they stayed to heal the wounds of war, rebuild, and nurture their second homeland - Điện Biên.

During the years when we celebrated our national history, I met many former soldiers and former youth volunteers who had contributed to the Điện Biên Phủ campaign, and now return to visit the old battlegrounds. I will never forget the image of Lê Văn Nhân, a Điện Biên soldier (from Hanoi), with tears in his eyes in front of the monument at the A1 National Martyrs’ Cemetery; or Professor and Doctor Nguyễn Ngọc Toản, who got married at the Điện Biên Phủ front and now uses a cane to revisit the old battleground; or former youth volunteer Nguyễn Tiến Năng, who still feels conflicted about Điện Biên - Northwestern region; or Điện Biên soldier Bùi Trọng Hiến (from Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu), who was moved to tears on his first and last visit to the battlefield...
Each of these historical witnesses, with their personal stories, not only served as characters and material for me to create authentic and impactful articles but also provided a living history lesson. It helped me better understand an era of heroism, a generation of brave people who sacrificed their personal happiness and youth to contribute to the nation.
As we move into 2025, I again have the opportunity to revisit our national history with the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Vietnam. The memories and stories of veterans who fought against the U.S. during the war, like Vũ Ngọc Ước, Phạm Mạnh Cường, Nguyễn Song Hào, and former youth volunteers Trịnh Thị Thu and Khúc Thị Hằng, living in my hometown, have helped me better understand the hardships, struggles, and heroic resilience of an era filled with both glory and tragedy. The journalistic work I have produced has not only retold the historical narrative and expressed gratitude to the previous generation but also sent a message: "Peace is beautiful, sacred, and needs to be cherished and preserved."
Proud of my country, I am equally proud to be a journalist for the Điện Biên Phủ Newspaper, having the opportunity to engage, listen, and learn from every significant event and milestone of the province and the nation, growing stronger and more mature with every step.
