The work of mobilizing and collecting weapons, explosives, and combat gears plays a particularly important role in the fight against and prevention of all types of crime. To create consensus and promote the combined strength of the entire political system and all people, the Party Committee and the Directorate of the provincial Police have directed the strengthening and enhancement of the effectiveness of state management in this field. At the same time, they have established a Steering Committee to implement a plan for a general inspection and to launch a high-intensity campaign to mobilize all people to surrender and to combat crimes and legal violations related to weapons, explosives, and combat gears.
As the core force, the police force for administrative management of social order throughout the province has closely followed the directives of the Party Committee and the Directorate of the provincial Police, strengthening communication activities and the collection of weapons, explosives, and combat gears from the public. The unit has implemented many creative methods suitable for grassroots realities, creating positive and widespread changes in the awareness and actions of people.
In Mường Tùng commune, after being educated by the commune’s police officers on legal regulations and the consequences of illegally storing and using weapons, Mr. Lý A Chầu from Nậm Piền village voluntarily brought one flintlock rifle, three alcohol-powered air guns, and three flintlock rifle barrels to the commune police headquarters to surrender them. In the presence of representatives from the local party committee and government, Mr. Lý A Chầu pledged to continue communicating with and mobilizing his relatives and fellow villagers to comply with regulations and join hands in building a safe and peaceful living environment.
To achieve this result, the party committee and government of Mường Tùng commune have directed the implementation of many synchronous measures, focusing on promoting the effectiveness of state management of weapons, explosives, and combat gears in conjunction with widespread communication to each household. During the communication sessions, people were informed about legal regulations and came to understand the harmful effects of illegally storing and using weapons, thereby raising their awareness of compliance.
Mr. Nguyễn Quang Hợp, Chairman of the Mường Tùng commune People’s Committee, said: “In recent times, the Commune Police have implemented synchronous measures, with a focus on promoting communication, creating a strong shift in the awareness and legal compliance of people, agencies, and businesses in the management and use of weapons, explosives, and combat gears, contributing to ensuring local security and order.”
In just six months, the Mường Tùng commune Police organized nearly 50 sessions to communicate and disseminate the law on the management of weapons, explosives, and combat gears, with over 4,000 participants. One hundred percent of the households in the commune signed a commitment not to illegally manufacture, store, transport, use, or trade weapons, explosives, and combat gears and fireworks.
In Phình Giàng commune, the commune Police coordinated with mass organizations to hold a public meeting in Pá Ca village, attracting over 80 participants. At the meeting, the commune police force disseminated information related to the Government’s Project 06, fire prevention and fighting, the management and use of weapons, explosives, and combat gears, and traffic safety. Many people voluntarily surrendered homemade guns, demonstrating their legal compliance and contributing to maintaining security, order, and social safety.
Mr. Cà Văn Thao, Chairman of the Phình Giàng commune People’s Committee, said: “The local government will continue to mobilize the involvement of mass organizations and the police force to promote communication and mobilize people to surrender weapons, explosives, and combat gears. At the same time, we will strictly handle cases of violation to ensure security and order in the area.”
In many localities in the province, the “All People Surrender Weapons” movement has been effectively maintained. With the motto “going to every alley, knocking on every door, checking every individual,” the grassroots police force has proactively gone to every village to communicate and disseminate legal regulations, while also flexibly integrating communication content into public meetings and community activities. This close and practical approach has helped people better understand the risks and consequences of illegally storing and using weapons, leading them to voluntarily surrender any weapons still kept in their families.
The results achieved from the work of mobilizing and collecting weapons, explosives, and combat gears have made an important contribution to preventing and limiting violations, ensuring social order and safety, and strengthening people’s trust in the police force and the grassroots government. As homemade guns are surrendered and potential dangers are eliminated, each village becomes more peaceful, and people can work and produce with peace of mind, joining hands to build a prosperous and happy life.
