The focused development of coffee and macadamia trees reflects a firm determination to realize the province’s goals for green and sustainable growth in the coming years.
In Mường Ảng, a land that has long established its position with coffee, the movement to carry out the Party’s resolutions is being promoted vigorously. With an existing coffee area of over 1,800 hectares, of which more than 1,600 hectares are in the commercial harvest stage, generating over VND 400 billion in 2025, Mường Ảng is pushing for even higher breakthroughs. For 2026, the commune aims to plant 150 hectares of new coffee and 150 hectares of macadamia through intercropping. This is a strategic move to provide shade for the coffee plants while diversifying agricultural products on the same unit of land. For years, Mường Ảng has concentrated on technical support, seedlings, and consumption linkages to build a sustainable concentrated production zone.
Similarly, in the border commune of Nà Bủng, the movement to plant coffee and macadamia has been launched with great enthusiasm. On April 3, 2026, Ham Xoong 1 village hosted a campaign launch for the 2026 planting season, serving as a vivid example of local efforts to materialize Action Program No.25-CTr/ĐU. Nguyễn Văn Tiếp, Chairman of the Nà Bủng commune People’s Committee, stated that developing these crops is a key policy intended to restructure the local economy and provide sustainable livelihoods for ethnic minority communities. For 2026, Nà Bủng is striving to complete the digging of 36,380 planting holes, equivalent to 20 hectares of new growth, with a total annual goal of 380 hectares. The launch attracted over 200 officers, soldiers, and residents to assist poor and disadvantaged households, and the local government donated three hole-digging machines to various villages to increase productivity and reduce physical labor.
Local residents like Thào A Sì from Ham Xoong 1 expressed great excitement after receiving technical guidance and support with seedlings. Having registered to plant nearly 2 hectares of coffee this year, he hopes for a stable income and a definitive escape from poverty in the near future. This widespread movement demonstrates a determination to uphold the “Điện Biên Phủ spirit” in peacetime, transforming national potential and central government support into internal motivation for a smart and sustainable province.
Under Resolution No.11-NQ/TU on restructuring the agricultural sector for 2026-2030, Điện Biên is shifting strongly from “agricultural production” to an “agricultural economy.” The focus is on forming large-scale commodity production zones covering about 70,000 hectares and applying digital technology and circular economy models to increase value. By 2030, the province aims to reach 40,000 hectares of macadamia and 20,000 hectares of coffee, solidifying its position as a primary national raw material region for Arabica coffee and macadamia. In 2026 alone, the province expects to plant 12,000 new hectares with the participation of 6,000 households. The current emulation spirit is spreading quickly, as registered areas have already reached impressive figures of over 12,935 hectares for coffee and 5,705 hectares for macadamia.
The consensus between the Party’s vision and the people’s will is creating sustainable livelihoods and contributing to Điện Biên’s goal of becoming a well-developed province in the region.
