Border guards with dual mission in Điện Biên

ĐBP - In the days leading up to the election for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 term, border guards in the frontier regions are playing a core role as a firm support for local authorities and residents.

By effectively combining voter guidance with border security, these soldiers are ensuring that the upcoming political event is both safe and well-understood by the community.

The Sen Thượng Border Post has been designated as Polling Area No.6, serving 256 voters from five villages, Tả Ló San, Chiếu Sừng, Long San, Tá Khoa Pá, and the border post itself, who will cast their ballots directly at the unit’s hall. In addition, the unit manages election duties for No. No.7 at the Sen Thượng Kindergarten, expecting 450 voters, and No. No.8 at the Pa Ma village cultural house with 81 voters. Task forces have been established to work directly with local party cells and governments to finalize voter lists, post candidate information, decorate polling areas, and provide flexible guidance on voting procedures across multiple locations.

The Nậm Nhừ Border Post maintains its “Border loudspeaker” model to provide mobile dissemination for the election of the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 term.

Major Lương Chí Công, Head of the Anti-Drug and Crime Team at the post, confirmed that the area remains stable with secured political security and social order, noting that no public grievances or opposition groups have been identified, which provides ideal conditions for synchronizing election outreach with border defense.

Because border regions demand high levels of political stability, the Nậm Nhừ Border Post is prioritizing proactive control directly from the grassroots level through a peak security plan covering the period before, during, and after the election. Task forces have intensified patrols along the border and landmarks while coordinating with police and militia to monitor population shifts, ensuring they are ready for any situation. The post has committed to 100% troop readiness for combat during peak days and has prepared contingency plans for complex scenarios.

Regarding outreach, the unit has conducted 32 focused dissemination sessions across 13 villages for over 3,260 listeners and visited 410 households directly, prioritizing those with limited access to information. This effort was further supported by 15 hours of broadcasting via the “Border loudspeaker” model and the distribution of 300 flyers, along with the active participation of 26 cadres and reputable community figures who help residents identify fake news and understand their civil rights.

Thanks to the clear and dedicated explanations provided by the Border Guard, residents in these border areas feel secure and are fully prepared for Election Day. Whether on rugged mountain patrols or in remote village meetings, these soldiers are working tirelessly to ensure the “Great National Festival” is safe, legal, and successful for all citizens.
