Market control and inspection during the year-end

ĐBP - At the end of the year, people’s consumption demand increases, making it a time when the market is prone to many risks of smuggling, commercial fraud, counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, and food safety violations.

The Điện Biên provincial Market Management force has implemented many synchronous solutions to strengthen market control and resolutely stop and strictly handle violations. These efforts contribute to maintaining market stability and protecting the rights of consumers.

Implementing the peak specialized inspection plan to fight against smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods before, during, and after the 2026 Lunar New Year 2026, the Market Management Team No.2 has strengthened area management. The team implemented effective professional measures to verify and inspect the market. The focus is on detecting and handling organizations and individuals producing or trading goods and services that violate origins or fail to ensure food hygiene and safety.

Through inspection and control work, the Market Management Team No.2 took the lead and coordinated with the police force to fine 11 administrative violation cases and collect VND 44 million for the State budget. Simultaneously, the functional forces forced the destruction of a large quantity of goods without clear origins. The violating goods were mainly fresh and processed foods, including 145kg of whole slaughtered ducks, 30kg of chicken breasts, 20kg of pork offal, 60kg of pork, and 30kg of whole slaughtered chickens. These are all items consumed in large quantities during the end of the year, and if they are not strictly controlled, they will pose a risk to food safety and affect community health.

The Market Management Team No.1 strengthens the inspection of warehouses in the managed area.

During the peak period, the Market Management Team No.1 will conduct 21 inspections while the Market Management Team No.2 will inspect 15 cases. Furthermore, Market Management Team No.3 will conduct 15 inspections and the Market Management Team No.4 will inspect 12 cases. The inspection activities focus on areas prone to violations such as food including alcohol, beer, soft drinks, and confectionery along with livestock, poultry, and fruits. Other targets include cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco, fashion goods, cosmetics, electronic goods, construction materials, granulated sugar, and fireworks.

Parallel with direct inspections at business establishments, the Market Management force also strengthens strict control over warehouses, gathering points, transit points, express delivery service establishments, industrial parks, wholesale markets, and commercial centers. Especially given the strong development of e-commerce, business activities on online platforms and social networks are also strictly monitored to promptly detect and strictly handle acts of trading and storing prohibited goods or goods of unknown origin. This also applies to items that infringe on intellectual property rights or violate price regulations.

Nguyễn Minh Cường, who serves as the Acting Director of the provincial Market Management Department, stated that during the time before, during, and after the 2026 Lunar New Year, the Market Management force is determined not to let price fevers or hoarding happen. Such acts would negatively affect the lives of the people. The force aims to protect the legitimate rights of consumers and honest businesses while creating a healthy and transparent competitive environment. Along with that, the work of propaganda and legal dissemination is emphasized. Inspection activities are performed according to the provisions of the law and do not cause obstacles for legal production and business activities.

Through inspections, the Market Management force combines propaganda and guidance so that organizations and individuals raise their awareness of legal compliance. To ensure actual efficiency, the Department requires Market Management Teams to implement solutions to fight smuggling and counterfeit goods synchronously. In this process, the force promotes the application of digital transformation in performing duties. At the same time, they strengthen management to maintain strict administrative discipline and assign officials to be on duty during holidays and Tet to ensure information is seamless.

With the drastic and synchronous involvement of the Market Management force and functional sectors, market control work in the province is proving effective. These actions maintain market stability and protect consumer rights during the 2026 Lunar New Year.
