In recent years, alongside expanding business operations, the provincial Business Association has actively responded to and effectively implemented social welfare programs initiated by the provincial People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Điện Biên province. In the past nine months alone, through its chapters, member organisations and individual members, the Association has contributed nearly VND 10 billion to various political, cultural and social events, clearly reflecting the sense of responsibility, compassion and solidarity of the business community toward society.
To mark the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory, the provincial Business Association joined hands with Business Associations across the Northwest to donate VND 500 million to build great solidarity houses for poor households and policy beneficiary families facing severe hardship in Mường Thanh ward and Thanh Yên commune. This meaningful initiative has helped families secure better housing conditions and stabilise their lives, while spreading the message “Businesses for the community”, reaffirming the role, position and social responsibility of Điện Biên’s business community in the era of renovation, integration and development.
When flash floods and landslides caused severe damage in Xa Dung, Tìa Dình, Mường Luân and Phình Giàng communes, many businesses, including Hoa Ba Education and Trading Co., Ltd and No. 6 Trading and Construction Co., Ltd, donated construction materials, goods, equipment and cash worth more than VND 3 billion, helping affected communities resume normal life. Leaders of the Association also visited schools in flood-hit areas and gave gifts to 350 students worth over VND 150 million, further spreading the spirit of sharing and corporate responsibility.
Bùi Đức Giang, Chairman of the provincial Business Association, said: “Helping people with housing is an important first step, but the ultimate goal is for each family to stand firmly on their own through sustainable livelihoods.”
No. 6 Trading and Construction Co., Ltd is among the companies actively engaged in social welfare while also creating jobs for thousands of local workers. Its workforce is currently deployed at civil, transport and hydropower projects; at its tuynel brick factory in Sam Mứn; its concrete plant in Thanh An; and at tourism and service sites such as Him Lam Ecopark, Thai culinary culture Village, and U Va hot mineral area. As a result, thousands of workers have stable jobs with monthly incomes ranging from VND 6 million to VND 30 million, making an important contribution to local socio-economic development.
Recently, many support activities have shifted from “giving away” to “creating opportunities”, focusing on job creation, skills upgrading and production linkages. Many businesses have proactively partnered with cooperatives and farmers in agricultural value chains, from production to consumption; providing technical guidance, financing inputs, and establishing raw material zones aligned with market demand, such as Hoa Ba Education and Trading Co., Ltd and Tâm Đỏ Supermarket. This approach has helped many households escape poverty and stabilise their lives.
With strong engagement from the entire political system and active participation of organisations and enterprises, Điện Biên’s poverty reduction efforts have achieved significant results in recent years. The provincial poverty rate has dropped sharply, and the material and spiritual well-being of residents has improved. Between 2021 and 2025, the province expects an average annual poverty reduction rate of 4.4%. These achievements underscore the contribution of the business community to local socio-economic development.
At a meeting with local entrepreneurs on Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lê Thành Đô stressed that development opportunities for Điện Biên’s businesses are expanding as Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW on private sector development takes effect - a key milestone affirming the role of the private sector in the national economy. This is a “fresh wind” empowering local enterprises to seize opportunities, embrace ambition and pioneer bold initiatives, contributing to building sustainable value for the province. This is not only encouragement, but also a strong expectation for the courage, intellect and dedication of Điện Biên’s entrepreneurs in a new era.
To deepen sustainable poverty reduction, Điện Biên needs more pioneering business models linking production with livelihoods, and investment with community responsibility. Material support is necessary, but long-term impact comes from knowledge, technology and strategic vision. When businesses become “development partners” with local people, co-creating new value on their own land, the local economy can grow more sustainably.
Today, Điện Biên stands at a major turning point in the age of integration and digital transformation. Infrastructure is improving, incentives are being refined, and the investment environment is increasingly open. This is the moment for the business community to foster self-reliance and a desire to contribute, creating prosperity for their own organisations and building a prosperous, civilised and compassionate Điện Biên. Entrepreneurs in Điện Biên are not only production forces but also the architects of trust in a human-centred economy, where corporate growth goes hand in hand with the people’s well-being. When this spirit is embedded into every action, project and development, it will become an internal driver enabling Điện Biên to grow steadily and confidently into the future.
