In recent years, along with the cooperative model, many localities have promoted links with households, built concentrated raw material areas, and developed OCOP products and key agricultural products, thereby bringing clear efficiency.
Pu Lau village, Mường Nhà commune has difficult natural conditions, with terrain mainly consisting of hills and steep mountains. However, in recent years, Pu Lau has become a bright spot in hunger eradication and poverty reduction thanks to developing honey pineapples. Pu Lau honey pineapple originates from Laos; due to suitable soil and climate, the pineapple quality is high, the fruit is large, sweet, and favored by the market.
Pu Lau village has 110 households and over 600 people; the whole village grows honey pineapples. In recent years, new planting and area expansion have taken place rapidly. Up to now, the total area of honey pineapples in Pu Lau is about 200ha. With prices fluctuating from VND 8,000 - 12,000/kg, honey pineapple has become the key crop for people here to develop the economy and rise to get rich.
To develop Pu Lau into a concentrated raw material area for honey pineapples, the companionship and support of Mường Nhà Pineapple Cooperative are indispensable. The cooperative plays a key role in linking production, underwriting products, building brands, and ensuring output so people can feel secure in expanding production.
Thào A Giàng, Director of Mường Nhà Pineapple Cooperative, said that the cooperative has 22 members, all of whom are people of Pu Lau village; the total old and newly planted pineapple area of members is about 50ha. Over the years, thanks to focusing on support and disseminating planting and care techniques to people, the pineapple area has increased sharply, and product quality is increasingly uniform. For the Pu Lau pineapple raw material area, the cooperative commits to purchasing at prices ranging from VND 6,000 - 9,000/kg; therefore, planting and harvesting pineapples will be stable, and people do not worry about the situation of “good harvest, low price.”
Thanks to linking households and building concentrated raw material areas, the Pu Lau honey pineapple brand is increasingly developing, affirming its position in the market, and is favored by customers. In recent years, people only need to promote production and expand the area; traders come to buy directly with competitive prices, bringing significant economic benefits to the people.
Tủa Chùa is a highland mountainous commune, with specific soil and many areas forming distinct microclimates. Therefore, crops often grow slowly but have higher quality than in the delta region. Among them, Cà gai leo (Solanum procumbens) grown in Tủa Chùa has high pharmacological value and is widely used in health support products.
In recent years, Tủa Chùa Cà Gai Leo Cooperative has been a pioneering unit, linking people and building a closed production chain from cultivation to processing, promotion, and consumption of products. Currently, Tủa Chùa Cà Gai Leo Cooperative has provided seeds, guided techniques for planting, caring for, and harvesting Cà gai leo in an organic direction, using biological products and fertilizers for more than 70 households in Tủa Chùa and Xá Nhè communes. Thanks to applying correct techniques, 1ha of Cà gai leo harvests 3 crops/year, bringing income over VND 300 million/ha/year.
Nguyễn Đỗ Hiệp, Director of Tủa Chùa Cà Gai Leo Cooperative, said: “Guiding households on techniques helps ensure consistent quality, linking stages into a specific process. Thereby meeting requirements on standards and quality for organic products, creating favorable conditions for building and expanding concentrated raw material areas in the locality. Currently, raw products from Cà gai leo of households are purchased, processed, and packaged by the cooperative for sale to businesses inside and outside the province. In 2026, it is expected that the cooperative will expand the Cà gai leo area by another 7ha, increasing the total raw material area linked between the cooperative and people to nearly 20ha.”
It can be seen that developing raw material areas through the model of cooperatives linking with people brings clear efficiency, creating a solid support for people to feel secure in promoting production. Linking, underwriting, ensuring output, and building the standing and brand of products of cooperatives help improve product value, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development in a stable and sustainable direction.
