Accompanying people in production development

ĐBP - Over the recent period, various levels, sectors, and local authorities within Điện Biên province have consistently accompanied the people in production development.

Numerous technical support solutions, science and technology transfers, and the supply of crop and livestock varieties have been implemented to help residents improve their production efficiency.

In the macadamia and coffee gardens of Thanh Nưa commune, which are currently in a vital growth stage, specialized officers have been directly observing every canopy and checking every root to promptly grasp the situation regarding pests and growth. With the motto “visit every garden, check every tree,” these officers have been able to identify harmful organisms on key crops like macadamia and coffee. Inspections generally show that the majority of the crop area is developing well and growing evenly with few pests. However, some households have used fertilizers of unknown origin purchased online, which lack quality assurance and negatively impact the growth process.

In response to this reality, officers from the General Service Center of Thanh Nưa commune have directly guided residents on care measures, such as weeding and mounding around the base to retain moisture, as well as applying balanced fertilization at the correct dosage and timing for each stage. They also instructed villagers to proactively irrigate during dry spells and regularly inspect their gardens. Specialized officers further recommended that residents avoid using floating or undocumented fertilizers, prioritizing products with full labeling from reputable establishments. Chu Văn Bách, Chairman of the Thanh Nưa commune People’s Committee, affirmed that under a streamlined governance model, the local government identifies economic development as a central task. Strengthening inspections and technical guidance at the grassroots level helps residents produce more effectively and contributes to sustainable socio-economic development.

To improve horse husbandry techniques and increase efficiency, especially during harsh winter weather, the Nậm Kè commune People’s Committee directed specialized officers to visit local villages directly. The team traveled to Huổi Lích 2, a village where many households were recently supported with breeding stock but still lack experience, to understand the actual situation. Through these inspections, the team assessed the health of the horse herds, stable conditions, and food sources. On this basis, officers guided residents to supplement green and concentrated feed, shield stables to keep animals warm, and follow proper sanitation and disease prevention procedures. Weaker horses were given supplemental vitamin injections to increase their resistance.

Vũ Đức Thiệp, Vice Chairman of the Nậm Kè commune People’s Committee, emphasized that providing technical guidance for livestock and crops is a vital mission for local economic growth. Residents like Sùng A Páo from Huổi Lích 1 village shared that while they previously relied on experience, the commune’s technical guidance has helped them care for their livestock based on specific scientific knowledge, making their efforts significantly more effective.

The focus on technical guidance and agricultural support contributes significantly to the province’s socio-economic development.

As a mountainous province, agriculture plays a leading role in the economic structure of Điện Biên. With most people relying on agriculture, forestry, and livestock, these guidance efforts are crucial for stabilizing lives and raising incomes. In 2025, although the grain crop area reached an estimated 77,759.91ha (a decrease of 2.17% compared to 2024), the total output still reached 289,646.16 tons, exceeding the set plan. This demonstrates the efficiency of applying technical progress. Along with food crops, the province planted over 3,300ha of coffee and over 2,000ha of macadamia. In the livestock sector, despite the impact of African Swine Fever, methods are gradually shifting toward safety and sustainability, with poultry numbers increasing and aquaculture remaining stable with an output of over 5,000 tons. These results confirm that technical guidance and production support are the key solutions for Điện Biên to harness its strengths and aim for long-term poverty reduction.
