Implementing the policy of caring for the lives of the people during the traditional festival, the Standing Board of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee has issued a plan to visit and give gifts to the poor on the occasion of the Tết holiday. According to the plan, from the Central-level “Fund for the Poor,” Điện Biên province expects to receive and allocate 300 gift sets to be given to the poor, poor households, near-poor households, people in especially difficult circumstances including cases of sudden difficulty, and residents in areas affected by natural disasters. Each gift set includes VND 1 million in cash and a gift bag.
From the source of the provincial “Fund for the Poor,” it is expected that 1,100 gift sets will be awarded with each set valued at VND 500,000 for poor households, near-poor households, and people in especially difficult circumstances. Priority is given to remote, distant, and border communes as well as areas affected by natural disasters and floods. In addition to the “Fund for the Poor,” the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels continues to coordinate with organizations, businesses, and benefactors inside and outside the province to mobilize more socialized resources to ensure that support reaches the right people promptly without duplication or omission.
According to Mùa A Vảng, who serves as the Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, along with the funds from the Central Government and the province, the Fatherland Front at all levels has actively mobilized organizations and individuals to join hands in caring for the poor since the beginning of 2026. The authorities of the communes continue to review households affected by natural disasters to proactively develop support plans while coordinating with relevant departments and branches to advise the province on implementing appropriate support policies. This work follows the spirit of ensuring that all people can enjoy a warm and safe Tết holiday in 2026 so that no one is left behind.
With that spirit, many programs to care for people in difficult circumstances are being implemented at the grassroots level. In Quài Tở commune, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations have connected with units and benefactors from Hà Nội to organize the “Warm Winter in Highland” program. Within the framework of the program, the volunteer group presented 218 gift sets consisting of warm blankets, clothes, and essential supplies to households in especially difficult circumstances in the commune along with more than 1,000 notebooks, pens, rulers, and school supplies for students with a total value of more than VND 150 million.
Implementing the policy of the Central Government, Điện Biên province is reviewing recipients and developing plans to organize the presentation of gifts to people with meritorious services to the revolution according to the Decision of the President on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. Previously, the province completed the payment for gifts from the Party and State on the occasion of celebrating the 14th National Party Congress and the 2026 Tết holiday according to Resolution No.418/NQ-CP of the Government. This ensured that gifts reached the people promptly. Accordingly, there are 37,806 individuals in the entire province including people with meritorious services to the revolution, social protection subjects, social pensioners, vulnerable groups, and orphans who received gifts at a rate of VND 400,000 per person with a total implementation budget of over VND 15.12 billion. The payment of gifts according to Resolution 418 was organized simultaneously across communes and wards in the province on December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026. This work promptly encouraged and shared with policy beneficiaries while helping people feel secure to enjoy the holiday and welcome the new spring.
Vi Việt Phú, who is an invalid soldier in Cà Phê hamlet of Thanh An commune, shared that receiving gifts from the Party and State right at the holiday is a great source of encouragement for people with meritorious services. He noted that the gift demonstrated timely care and gratitude while helping his family and many local people feel more secure when the new year and spring arrive.
In parallel with the policies of the State, local authorities and association levels in the area have been developing plans and implementing programs to care for policy beneficiaries, poor households, and vulnerable people. The “Tết of Benevolence” program of the provincial Red Cross Society strives to support over 20,000 gift portions valued at VND 300,000 to VND 500,000 per portion for poor households and people in especially difficult circumstances. The provincial Labor Federation expects to organize many activities to care for members and laborers under the theme “Tết Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party.”
With early and synchronous preparation as well as the responsibility of all levels and branches along with the join hands of the social community, the work of caring for people with meritorious services, the poor, and the vulnerable in the province for the Lunar New Year Bính Ngọ 2026 is being effectively implemented. This contributes to spreading the spirit of solidarity and kindness so that the new spring reaches every citizen.
