At the grassroots-level trade union of Mạnh Quân Investment and Construction JSC, the emulation movement for “green - clean - beautiful, ensuring occupational safety, hygiene, and fire prevention” has been maintained for many years and has brought clear effectiveness, as no serious incidents have occurred that affect production or the lives of workers. The grassroots-level trade union has proactively coordinated to launch emulation movements at worksites and construction projects while mobilizing workers to strictly comply with safe working processes and procedures, labor discipline, enterprise internal rules, and legal regulations on occupational safety and hygiene.
Nguyễn Thị Thoa, who serves as the Chairwoman of the grassroots-level trade union of Mạnh Quân Investment and Construction JSC, stated that the trade union focuses on dissemination and mobilizing members to actively research and improve techniques and machinery while applying science and technology to the production process to improve working conditions. Training and coaching on occupational safety and hygiene are coordinated and organized regularly. Workers receive periodic health checks and are fully equipped with labor protection equipment while their rights regarding wages, social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance are guaranteed.
Along with building a safe and stable working environment, trade unions in enterprises focus on caring for the lives and protecting the legal and legitimate rights and interests of members and workers. The grassroots-level trade union of Hoa Ba Education and Trading Company currently has 105 union members and workers. Over the past years, the company leadership and the Trade Union Executive Board have coordinated closely to build and implement plans to care for and ensure income and welfare while improving the material and spiritual lives of workers.
A highlight is the construction of reasonable wage and bonus plans that create motivation for workers to develop initiatives and improve labor productivity and work quality. Hà Thị Nha Trang, the Chairwoman of the grassroots-level trade union of Hoa Ba Education and Trading Company, stated that the income distribution mechanism has been gradually improved according to the principle of “working according to ability, enjoying according to labor” to ensure an income level commensurate with work efficiency.
Currently, the highest salary at the company reaches VND 25.5 million per person per month while the lowest is VND 6.5 million per person per month. The highest Tết bonus reaches VND 15 million per person, and every year, individuals who excellently complete their tasks are rewarded with VND 1 million per person. The collective labor agreement is built and strictly implemented with many contents beneficial to workers such as wages, bonuses, social insurance, health insurance, sick leave regimes, mid-shift meals, social welfare, uniforms, labor protection equipment, and periodic health checks. Besides that, spiritual life care activities are coordinated and organized by the trade union in diverse and practical ways such as visiting sick members, organizing “Tết Reunion,” “Worker Month,” and meetings on March 8 and October 20. Since 2023, the total budget spent on care, cultural, and sports activities at the unit has reached over VND 300 million.
The whole province currently has 7,131 union members who participate in 72 grassroots-level trade unions, including 40 enterprise grassroots-level trade unions. Implementing the program to improve welfare for union members in a practical and effective direction, the provincial Labor Federation has maintained cooperation with many units and businesses to provide essential services and goods to members and workers with preferential rates of 10 - 20% compared to market prices. These partners include the provincial Post Office, Hoa Ba Education and Trading Company, and American HD Nutrition JSC.
During the 2023 - 2025 period, more than 1,000 members and workers in the whole province have benefited from the welfare program with a total preferential value of hundreds of millions of VND, which contributes to reducing living costs and improving the lives of workers. Along with that, the provincial Labor Federation directs trade unions at all levels to implement the task of “Improving the quality of shift meals for workers.” Many grassroots-level trade unions have coordinated with employers to organize shift meals that ensure quality and food safety with a value from VND 25,000 per portion or more. Typical examples include Điện Biên Water JSC, Điện Biên High-Tech Tunnel Brick Building Materials Manufacturing Joint Stock Company, and Điện Biên Cement JSC.
With the synchronous involvement of trade unions at all levels and the responsible coordination of enterprises, trade union activities in businesses within Điện Biên province continue to affirm their role in accompanying and sharing for harmonious interests, which contributes to building stable, progressive, and sustainable labor relations.
