ĐBP - These days, at the flower island in Pá Khoang Commune (Điện Biên Phủ City), thousands of cherry blossoms are in full bloom, showcasing their beauty under the spring sunlight and attracting numerous visitors inside and outside the province.

The flower island, also known as “paradise” of cherry blossoms in the province, is situated at Pá Khoang reservoir in Pá Khoang Commune. Visitors to Điện Biên Province in early spring can easily enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms and capture unforgettable moments with the flower. The Japanese cherry blossom season typically lasts about two months, with the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival 2025 marking the peak of their bloom.

In recent days, many locals and tourists have flocked to the flower island to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Visiting the island for the first time during the peak blooming season, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Bảy, a tourist from Da Nang City, expressed her amazement at the pristine and majestic beauty of the cherry blossoms. She and her family took photos to capture these breathtaking moments.

“I never imagined I could witness an entire island of cherry blossoms amidst the majestic mountains of Điện Biên. It is truly stunning and breathtaking. The soft pink of the cherry blossoms brings a sense of peace and calm. Being here, I feel as though all my stress melts away as I immerse myself in this poetic scenery. I’m sure that my family and I will return to the flower island and Điện Biên soon,” shared Ms. Bảy.

Mrs. Phạm Thị Thu, a resident from Nam Thanh Ward (Điện Biên Phủ City), held that she, together with her relatives from Hanoi, visited the island, and everyone was delighted by the beauty here with mountains, lakes, and flowers, contributing to creating a poetic and picturesque landscape. Knowing that the Cherry Blossom Festival 2025 will take place on January 11-12, so her family plans to return to the place to enjoy the cherry blossoms as well as the cuisine and cultural traditions of the Thái, Khơ Mú, and Mông ethnic minority groups.

Not only tourists but also local people of Pá Khoang Commune are also interested in the Cherry Blossom Festival 2025. The event is not just an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature but also a chance to showcase the traditional culture and unique cuisine of the Thái, Khơ Mú, and Mông ethnic minority groups to visitors, contributing to local economic development. Women in Kéo Village have been sewing and embroidering new outfits for the occasion for many months. Ms. Lò Thị Tâm, a local people in Kéo Village shared that annually, local women in the village take three months preparing for the event. “Cherry blossoms bloom only once a year, and we look forward to join the festival,” she added.

Mr. Quàng Văn Thanh, Head of Kéo Village in Pá Khoang Commune, stated that preparations for the Cherry Blossom Festival 2025 began as soon as the commune People’s Committee announced the event plan. “We promptly informed residents about the festival through village meetings, Party cell activities, and local loudspeaker system. We mobilized the community to clean the village environment, spruce up the roads leading to the flower island, and prepare traditional Khơ Mú products for display at the festival booths. Cultural performances were also rehearsed in advance,” he said.

According to Mr. Thanh, the announcement of the festival has sparked excitement among local residents. “Everyone is eagerly looking forward to the event. Many have even shared photos of cherry blossoms and festival information on social media platforms like Zalo and Facebook,” he added.

The Cherry Blossom Festival - Điện Biên Phủ 2025, themed “Villages welcome spring - Cherry blossoms in bloom,” is set to take place on January 11-12, at the Pá Khoang flower island. The event will feature a vibrant array of activities, including the opening ceremony, an artistic performance, and 30 booths showcasing OCOP products, cultural artifacts, tourism highlights, and culinary specialties. A key attraction will be the cultural spaces representing the Thái, Khơ Mú, and Mông ethnic groups, where visitors can witness demonstrations of traditional crafts such as bamboo and rattan weaving, blacksmithing, and embroidery. The festival will also host the “Flavors of Điện Biên” culinary competition alongside interactive cultural and sporting events, including stick pushing, tug-of-war, stilt walking, and kayak racing.

Visitors from near and far are invited to the Pá Khoang flower island to marvel at the exquisite beauty of the cherry blossoms and immerse themselves in a celebration of local culture, cuisine, and sportsmanship.
