Within the framework of the working visit, on September 14, the delegation of Điện Biên province held a working session and exchange of experience with the delegation of Oudomxay province (Laos) to strengthen friendly ties, share expertise, and advance tourism development cooperation between the two localities. Attending the working session was Souvat Mahavongsananh, Member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Vice Governor of Oudomxay province, alongside representatives of the host province’s specialized cultural and tourism agencies.

At the meeting, both sides exchanged contents regarding cultural and tourism development, as well as cooperation potentials between the two localities. Concurrently, they shared experience in developing tourism products, exploiting destinations, improving service quality, and strengthening tourism connectivity. The participation of travel business representatives contributed to expanding exchanges from the state management tier to commercial linkages, market exploitation, and the design of tourism products suited to visitor demands.

Strengthening cooperation between Điện Biên and Oudomxay carries significant importance in expanding the tourism linkage space between localities in Northwestern Việt Nam and Northern Laos. This stands as one of the activities contributing to step-by-step shaping overland tourism routes connecting Thailand, Laos, and Việt Nam via the Tây Trang International Border Gate, creating additional opportunities to attract international tourists to Điện Biên.

During the working visit, the Điện Biên provincial delegation will conduct field surveys of local accommodation facilities, restaurants, sightseeing spots, tourism products, and visitor services. This will provide further practical grounds to assess destination connectivity, develop inter-regional and transnational tourism products, and tap international tourist markets effectively.

Expanding tourism linkages with Oudomxay province is identified as a vital direction to broaden Điện Biên’s tourism development space while creating favorable conditions to widely promote local historical, cultural, scenic, and human values.
