With enthusiasm and volunteerism, members of the Mường Lạn commune Youth Union mobilized nearly 30 young volunteers to help transport construction materials for the family of Lò Thị Mắn in Nhộp village, Mường Lạn commune (Điện Biên province). Early in the morning, the young volunteers gathered at Mắn’s house, taking charge of different tasks such as carrying sand, gravel, bricks, and cement, and cleaning the construction area. Despite the scorching heat, long distances, and steep terrain, everyone worked energetically and responsibly.

Lò Thị Mắn shared emotionally: “My family’s situation is very difficult. Our house was run-down, and we couldn’t afford repairs. Thanks to the government’s support and the help of these young volunteers in transporting materials, I am deeply touched and grateful. Because of their support, my family will soon have a solid new home and can live in peace”. The efforts of Mường Lạn’s youth have contributed to the commune’s goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses on schedule, while spreading the spirit of solidarity and community responsibility among young people.
To bring a joyful and meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival to children in remote areas, in early October, the Điện Biên provincial Youth Union, together with Viettel Post Điện Biên, organized the program “Mid-Autumn Festival for children - Connecting love” at Sa Lông Semi-Boarding Primary School for Ethnic Minorities in Na Sang commune. The event was filled with excitement and laughter, featuring musical and dance performances by the students themselves. The cheerful lion dance drums and shimmering lantern lights created a warm festive atmosphere. The organizers also presented 998 white and red shirts, 235 mooncakes, along with school supplies, children’s books, and clothing to local students.

During the first nine months of 2025, young people across Điện Biên province have affirmed their pioneering, dynamic, and creative role in all areas of life, actively contributing to local socio-economic growth. Under the leadership of the provincial Youth Union’s Standing Committee, the “Youth volunteer” movement has continued to spread widely, engaging thousands of young participants. Across the province, 234 youth-led projects and initiatives were completed, including 15 at the provincial level, 27 at the district level, and 192 at the grassroots level, creating a strong sense of emulation and enthusiasm among youth members.

Responding to the call to eliminate temporary and unsafe housing, the provincial Youth Union’s Standing Committee actively mobilized resources from organizations, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the province. Over the past nine months, 15 houses worth more than VND 1.12 billion were built and handed over to families in need, helping them stabilize their lives. The provincial Youth Union also worked with the Department of Construction to promote non-fired brick technology, contributing to environmental protection and the development of new-style rural areas.
Within the “Youth join hands to build new rural areas” movement, all grassroots Youth Union chapters in the province organized volunteer campaigns and technical training on animal husbandry and livestock disease prevention, while repairing and improving rural infrastructure. These efforts resulted in the construction of three rural bridges, lighting of 18.5 kilometers of village roads, repair of 110 kilometers of rural routes, and over 250 community activities supporting new rural development targets.

The provincial Youth Union also collaborated with various agencies, enterprises, and social organizations to implement welfare and youth support initiatives. Programs such as “Lights for mountain villages”, the “Happy home” project in Xa Dung commune, the “Beautiful school for children” project in Pu Nhi commune, and “Red scarf houses” for disadvantaged students in Si Pa Phìn commune have spread compassion and brought joy and motivation to children in remote areas. Following heavy rains and floods in early August 2025, the Điện Biên provincial Youth Union quickly mobilized donations, raising more than VND 2.4 billion to support affected households.
According to Lò Xuân Hạnh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Youth Union: “Since the beginning of the year, the Union’s activities have been renewed in both content and approach, closely aligned with the real needs and aspirations of young people. Revolutionary movements and youth support programs have been effectively implemented, helping enhance the quality of the organization and reaffirming the role of youth in the province’s development.”
With these remarkable results, the youth of Điện Biên continue to embody the spirit of “wherever there is need, there are young people; wherever there are challenges, young people rise to the occasion”. They remain a pioneering force in building a more prosperous, civilized, and sustainable Điện Biên. Through practical and meaningful projects, young people have demonstrated their responsibility, dedication, and aspiration to contribute to the province’s development. Building on these achievements, Điện Biên’s youth will continue to unite, innovate, and strive tirelessly toward a bright and sustainable future for their homeland.
