Proactively preventing workplace risks while fully executing insurance policies for occupational accidents and diseases represents a practical solution to protect workers’ legitimate rights, giving them peace of mind for long-term commitment to enterprises.
Proactive prevention from the workplace
Employing a large workforce regularly operating across construction sites, factories, mines, and production facilities, Trade and Construction Co., Ltd. No.6 determines that ensuring occupational safety and health must go hand in hand with fully executing insurance policies, thereby protecting workers’ legitimate rights.
Nguyễn Trọng Hùng, Head of the Project Department at Trade and Construction Co., Ltd. No.6, noted that the enterprise consistently attends to creating favorable conditions for laborers to work with peace of mind, emphasizing occupational safety and health, particularly at construction sites, factories, mines, and high-risk positions, where workers are thoroughly informed of safety regulations, equipped with full protective gear, and required to adhere strictly to workflows.
On average, the company generates employment for around 700 to 900 local workers each year. When starting work, laborers receive specific guidance on job duties, procedures, and safety requirements. The enterprise conducts registration, participation, and contribution payments for statutory insurance schemes under regulations, while regularly reviewing and updating labor fluctuations to guarantee full employee benefits.
Sùng A Phà, a worker at Trade and Construction Co., Ltd. No.6, shared that his main tasks involve steel, formwork, and welding for over a year, during which he received full personal protective equipment, safety training, and statutory insurance coverage, giving him greater peace of mind and motivation to stay attached to the job.
At the Điện Biên Rubber Latex Processing Plant under Điện Biên Rubber JSC, occupational safety and health are also consistently prioritized. Entering operation in late 2025, the plant holds an annual capacity of roughly 5,000 tons of products with 32 regular workers. Employees undergo occupational safety and health training, receive protective clothing, gloves, and specialized tools, and attend periodic health check-ups. The plant also coordinates with the Social Insurance agency to dissemonate insurance policies, including occupational accident and disease coverage.
Concurrently, the plant invested in processing wastewater treatment systems to mitigate impacts on worker health and the environment. Đặng Quốc Luân, Manager of the Điện Biên Rubber Latex Processing Plant, noted that because rubber latex processing wastewater contains high organic content that generates odors and risks polluting water and air if untreated, the plant invested roughly VND 9 billion in a biological wastewater treatment system with a daily capacity of 340 cubic meters, selecting biological treatments over chemicals to protect worker health and limit environmental impacts.
Additional support for workers
Despite emphasized preventive efforts, workplace risks remain difficult to avoid entirely. In July 2025, while on duty amid rainy weather and slippery roads, Phan Văn Tuấn from the Chiềng Sinh commune General Service Center encountered an accident resulting in a fractured left clavicle. After roughly a week of treatment and an additional week of rest, he was able to return to work.
Following medical assessment, Tuấn was determined to have a 10% bodily injury rate and received a lump-sum occupational accident allowance totaling nearly VND 60 million. Tuấn shared that the process of completing dossiers and receiving allowances was clear and convenient, providing financial relief during treatment and recovery, reducing economic burdens through a practical and humane policy.
Occupational accident and disease insurance is one of the five compulsory social insurance regimes, supporting laborers who encounter unfortunate workplace risks. Depending on specific cases, workers may receive coverage for medical examination, treatment, functional rehabilitation, allowances, and partial income compensation. Over recent times, the provincial Social Insurance agency intensified policy dissemination through diverse activities and formats, helping workers and employers understand rights, obligations, and entitlements clearly.
Trần Sơn, Director of the provincial Social Insurance, noted that through dissemination, awareness of occupational accident and disease insurance policies among employers and workers has been elevated continuously, helping workers comprehend benefits regarding medical expenses, functional rehabilitation, and income compensation, while raising employer law compliance awareness to safeguard legitimate worker interests.
Trần Sơn added that in the coming time, the provincial Social Insurance will continue disseminating target participants, eligibility conditions, claim procedures, and support policies from the Occupational Accident and Disease Insurance Fund - such as career transition support, occupational disease examination and treatment, and functional rehabilitation - deployed across digital platforms, dialogue conferences, training sessions, and directly at enterprises and villages, alongside enhanced policy consulting and guidance.
Proactively preventing occupational accidents and diseases right at the workplace serves as a fundamental solution to curb risks and protect worker health. When insurance policies are executed fully and promptly, laborers secure added guarantees for rights and income during unforeseen incidents, enabling them to work with peace of mind and stabilize their lives.
