Over 1,400 people take part in firefighting and rescue drills

ĐBP - More than 1,400 students, teachers, and parents of Him Lam Secondary School (Mường Thanh ward) took part in a hands-on firefighting and rescue drill on September 13.

At the event, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Division under the Điện Biên provincial Police introduced key firefighting and rescue equipment, such as portable extinguishers, gas masks, bolt cutters, handheld saws, fire trucks, and ladder trucks, and organized structured practice sessions.

Participants were guided through multiple activities, including evacuating in smoke-filled, confined spaces; using portable fire extinguishers; escaping from height via slanting rope bridges and ladders; carrying and assisting victims; performing first aid; and practicing targeted water spraying.

The program, jointly organized by Him Lam Secondary School and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Division, aimed to provide legal knowledge and practical measures for fire prevention and rescue. It focused on equipping teachers and students with essential response skills for fires and explosions, as well as escape techniques in households, apartment buildings, and crowded places.

Beyond raising awareness and knowledge of fire safety, the event also contributed to general education reform by enhancing experiential learning and life skills for students.
