Điện Biên launches “Happy Boarding Schools” project

ĐBP - On the morning of March 28, the Điện Biên provincial Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with World Vision International (WVI) Vietnam, organized a seminar to launch the “Happy Boarding Schools” project.

At the seminar, delegates heard and discussed the goals, beneficiaries, and the implementation framework of the project. The roles, tasks, and coordination mechanisms of the parties involved were also clarified.

The “Happy Boarding Schools” project, approved by the provincial People’s Committee, is funded by the European Union through WVI Vietnam and will be implemented in Điện Biên province from December 1, 2024, to September 30, 2027.

The project aims to improve students’ access to quality child protection services and other essential services. Activities planned for the project include: supporting the development of child protection standards and essential services; establishing and operating active citizen clubs in schools; assisting children who are victims or at risk of violence and abuse; training and supporting parents and children’s initiatives to implement policies that improve child protection services.

The project will be implemented at 14 ethnic minority boarding secondary schools in 4 highland districts: Điện Biên Đông, Mường Chà, Tuần Giáo, and Tủa Chùa, as well as some provincial-level activities in Thành phố Điện Biên Phủ, with a budget of approximately VND 15.8 billion. The beneficiaries of the project include over 6,500 boarding students, more than 12,400 parents, and 438 school administrators, teachers, and staff.

Speaking at the seminar, Cù Huy Hoàn, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training, emphasized that the project is an important initiative requiring the joint efforts and responsibility of local authorities, agencies, organizations, and the support of WVI Vietnam to ensure that the project is implemented effectively and sustainably. This will contribute to improving the quality of education, creating the best conditions for students, and providing them with additional motivation to study and develop comprehensively.
