Điện Biên launches donation campaign to support Typhoon No.10-hit victims

ĐBP - In response to the severe damage caused by Typhoon No.10, on the morning of October 5, the Standing Committee of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Điện Biên province launched a campaign to mobilize support for people affected by the disaster.

The launching ceremony was attended by Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; members of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee; provincial leaders from departments, agencies, socio-political organizations, and local enterprises.

Provincial Party Secretary Trần Quốc Cường and provincial leaders donate to support people affected by Typhoon No.10.

Typhoon No.10 caused extensive loss of life and property across northern and north-central provinces. As of October 2, 2025, preliminary statistics recorded 54 people dead or missing, 140 injured, and more than 150 houses collapsed or severely damaged. Over 50,000 hectares of rice and crops were submerged or destroyed, while numerous roads, schools, healthcare facilities, and public infrastructure suffered serious damage. The total estimated loss amounts to tens of trillions of VND.

Responding to the Appeal from the Presidium of the Central Committee of the VFF for nationwide solidarity to help disaster-affected residents, the VFF Committee of Điện Biên province called upon all citizens, officials, armed forces personnel, agencies, organizations, businesses, and benefactors to contribute both materially and spiritually. The campaign embodies the spirit of “Mutual support and compassion” and “The healthy leaf covers the torn leaf.”

Leaders of departments and sectors contribute at the launching ceremony.

The committee suggested that each government employee and civil servant contribute at least one day’s salary, businesses donate from VND 2 million or more, and each household contribute from VND 20,000 or more, with the principle “Give what you can.”

The campaign will receive donations from October 4 to October 31, 2025. The provincial VFF Committee pledged to ensure that all contributions will be used transparently, effectively, and for the intended purposes to support those affected by the storm in rebuilding their lives.

The Standing Board of the VFF Committee of Điện Biên province receives donations from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Immediately after the ceremony, provincial leaders, officials, and representatives of agencies and organizations donated to the fund. The event saw participation from 26 organizations and 20 individuals, raising nearly VND 800 million in total.

This campaign reflects the compassion, solidarity, and sense of responsibility of the Party, authorities, and people of Điện Biên province toward fellow citizens across the country who have suffered losses due to natural disasters.
