9 casualties and missing due to floods in Mường Pồn

ĐBP – Flash floods and heavy rains on the night of Wednesday, July 27, have caused devastating damage in Mường Pồn Commune, Điện Biên District. The disaster resulted in two deaths and left five people missing, while two others were injured.

The floods caused significant property damage, sweeping away about ten houses and causing eight houses to collapse. Additionally, around 100 houses were partially damaged. Approximately 40 hectares of rice fields were buried, and two hectares of aquaculture were completely destroyed. The total estimated damage is VNĐ2.7 billion (US$106,520).

Landslides and mudslides blocked roads, causing severe traffic congestion on National Highway 12, which passes through the Lĩnh Village area in Mường Pồn Commune. Authorities are currently searching for the missing persons and working to address the extensive flood damage.

Many houses are submerged due to floods.
