In particular, the successful organization of the Coffee Festival associated with eco-tourism in Búng Lao commune in 2025 promises to contribute to gradually shifting the agricultural and rural economic structure towards green, sustainable development, and improving income for people.
With the aim of creating conditions for farmers and cooperatives to have opportunities to exchange and learn; helping businesses connect effectively with customers, bringing rich experiences about coffee and modern consumption styles; enhancing value and quality, developing a sustainable coffee industry associated with local tourism, recently, Búng Lao commune organized the Coffee Festival associated with eco-tourism in Búng Lao commune, 2025.
The festival took place over 2 days with many exciting and attractive activities such as: A contest on knowledge and skills in planting, caring for, and processing coffee; a coffee picking contest and introduction of traditional cuisine; visiting and experiencing the Việt Bắc Coffee Processing Factory; visiting the Đào Viên Sơn eco-tourism spot and stalls displaying and introducing OCOP products and typical local agricultural products... The event attracted thousands of tourists, local people, cooperatives, and businesses in the province to participate.
Trương Hồng Bách, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Búng Lao commune, said: This is the first time Búng Lao commune has organized a Coffee Festival associated with eco-tourism. The festival not only honors coffee growers, producers, processors, and traders, encouraging the community to join hands in cultivating the development of coffee culture in the area but also introduces distinct images of the culture, people, potential, strengths, and tourism of the commune, creating a friendly, hospitable image, attracting investors and tourists to Búng Lao commune.
To implement the eco-tourism model associated with production experience, Búng Lao commune has guided, supported, encouraged, and created conditions for establishments to submit OCOP product certification dossiers. It supports the sale of coffee products and agricultural products achieving OCOP status at OCOP sales points, trade centers, supermarkets, and convenience stores of the province and commune. There are mechanisms and policies creating conditions for organizations and individuals to invest in factories, deep processing facilities, and the production of products from coffee beans.
Currently, the whole commune has 767ha of coffee; of which 453ha are being harvested. In 2025, the output of parchment coffee is estimated to reach over 860 tons. The coffee processing factory of Việt Bắc Coffee Import Export Co., Ltd basically meets the demand for coffee products in the commune. In addition, in neighboring communes like Mường Ảng, there are a number of deep processing and production establishments for coffee products such as: Hải An Co., Ltd., Hà Chung Coffee Processing Establishment, having products achieving OCOP certification.
On that basis, the People’s Committee of Búng Lao commune always encourages economic sectors and coffee-growing households to invest in machinery and innovate technology and deep processing equipment. Developing concentrated planting areas ensuring processing, associated with environmental protection and the development of eco-tourism and production experience.
Currently, the implementation of the eco-tourism model associated with production experience in Búng Lao commune still faces difficulties and obstacles such as: It has only stopped at the level of organizing the festival; there is still a lack of policy mechanisms to form an eco-tourism model associated with agricultural production experience. The area still lacks resorts and homestay accommodations; the renovation of the environmental landscape has not been focused on, not attracting many tourists; there are no pilot models for people to follow. Most people do not know how to develop agriculture associated with eco-tourism and are not bold enough to invest. In addition, there is a lack of unique rural tourism products and accompanying services to retain visitors.
In the coming time, Búng Lao commune determines to continue promoting information dissemination, training, and guiding people in agricultural production, protecting the ecological environment, combining tourism development to create green, sustainable agricultural economic efficiency. Promoting local advantages, investing funds to build amusement and resort areas, meeting the needs of visitors for sightseeing and experience. Building local specific OCOP products and characteristic tourism products.
