Power of solidarity spirit

ĐBP - Điện Biên province is changing its skin and flesh every day. Behind this development is the internal strength of the great national unity bloc, in which the Fatherland Front organizations at all levels plays the role of the core nucleus, the bridge that tightens the “Party’s will and the people’s hearts” into a unified, solid bloc.

Human kindness in adversity

One of the clearest testaments to the ability of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front to gather and promote the strength of great unity is the way the entire political system and all of society responded, joining hands to support people in areas affected by natural disasters.

“Immediately after the natural disaster in early August, which caused heavy damage in many localities, the Standing Committee of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front did not shy away from the difficulty. It immediately formed working groups to go directly to the hardest-hit communes such as Na Son, Xa Dung, Phình Giàng, Tìa Dình, and Mường Luân to grasp the situation, visit, and encourage local people. At the same time, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee launched an appeal calling on agencies, units, businesses, armed forces, social organizations, and people inside and outside the province to join hands in supporting our compatriots in the disaster area,” said Mùa A Vảng, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

Many great unity houses have been completed, showing the spirit of solidarity and mutual affection, and realizing the dream of having stable lives for the poor. In the photo: The family of Hạng A Thi, Nậm Ngám C village, Pu Nhi commune, in front of his house built with support.

As a result, in just over one month (as of September 15), the total amount received reached VND 58.403 billion, with contributions from over 6,300 organizations and individuals. This is a large number, mobilized in a short time, showing the spread of the spirit of solidarity, mutual affection, and the nation’s “the intact leaves protect the torn ones” tradition. Grassroots-level authorities coordinated closely with the Fatherland Front organizations to review and classify the damage to provide support to the right people and for the right needs. Many relief delegations went directly to the villages, to each household, to hand-deliver practical and timely support.

Not stopping at immediate relief, the Fatherland Front organizations at all levels also focused on long-term solutions: supporting crop seeds, livestock, building permanent houses, repairing essential infrastructure, supporting production capital, vocational training... helping people restore their livelihoods and stabilize their lives for the long term.

Strengthening great unity bloc from grassroots level

The strength of the Fatherland Front organizations is not only shown in emergency situations, but is also nurtured daily through its role as a “bridge” between the Party, the government, and the people. Recognizing this, the Fatherland Front organizations and socio-political organizations of Điện Biên province have continuously innovated their content and methods of operation. The two-level Front and mass organization system has been streamlined, operates effectively, and is always strongly oriented towards the grassroots.

In Na Sang commune, with 39 villages and residential groups and 13 ethnic groups living together, the spirit of solidarity continues to be firmly maintained. Giàng A Sàng, Chairman of the commune’s Fatherland Front Committee, said: “After establishing the new commune and merging mass organizations into the Fatherland Front Committee, the commune’s Fatherland Front Committee has built regulations and operational plans; assigned responsibilities to each organization and individual, linking them to the functions and tasks of the socio-political organizations; and maximized the role of gathering and uniting members, union members, and people. In parallel, the Fatherland Front Committee promotes communication, mobilizing people to actively participate in patriotic emulation movements launched by all levels, and communicating to help people understand and support the two-level government model...” This helps to closely connect the forces, unify action, and create a widespread spirit of joining hands to build the commune.

In Mường Phăng commune, a locality newly established from the merger of 3 former communes (Mường Phăng, Nà Nhạn, Pá Khoang), with 50 villages and over 16,000 people, the challenge of unity and solidarity is significant. But as Quàng Văn Việt, Chairman of the commune’s Fatherland Front Committee, affirmed: “The area is larger, with more villages and ethnic groups than before, but there is no division or discrimination.” This is thanks to the commune’s Fatherland Front Committee having done its role of gathering forces well; movements such as “Building a cultural life in residential areas,” environmental sanitation, and “All people participate in protecting national security” continue to be well-maintained. People of Mường Phăng, after the merger, remain united, supporting the commune’s programs, events, political activities, and development projects.

That is also what the Fatherland Front organizations at all levels is striving to do. They focus on and proactively coordinate communication, mobilizing members and people to implement the guidelines and policies of the Party and the laws of the State. They perform their supervision and listening functions well; special attention is paid to grasping people’s thoughts and aspirations, thereby promptly reflecting and proposing solutions to the party committees and authorities to resolve difficulties and obstacles at the grassroots, creating social consensus and unity.

Movements and campaigns are implemented synchronously, substantively, and linked to socio-economic development tasks. Notable examples include the “All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilized urban centers” campaign, “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods,” or “All people participate in environmental protection, responding to climate change”... which have deepened, inspiring a spirit of self-reliance in the community. The “Great Unity” housing program, mobilizing resources to support the poor and vulnerable, has been effectively implemented. Over 14,000 houses have been newly built and repaired, corresponding to over 14,000 families being able to “settle down,” giving them a solid support to rise out of poverty sustainably.

The 2025 - 2030 period demands an even stronger promotion of the great national unity bloc’s strength. The provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations will continue to promote their core political role, widely gathering all classes of people, ensuring high ideological unity to consolidate social consensus and create a solid foundation for development. This crystallizes the strength of great national unity towards the common goal of building an increasingly developed Điện Biên.
