Ready for national election day

ĐBP - On March 15, 2026, the election for the 16th National Assembly and the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term will officially begin.

In the rugged highland communes, preparations for this significant national event are being carried out with urgency, seriousness, and strict adherence to regulations. Through the proactive leadership of local authorities and the enthusiastic support of the residents, these regions have finalized all necessary conditions and stand fully prepared for election day.

In Tủa Chùa commune, the final steps of the preparation process have been accelerated to ensure total readiness. Phạm Quốc Đạt, Chairman of the commune People’s Committee, stated that specific tasks have been delegated to every member of the Election Committee, with detailed plans tracking every milestone. While the infrastructure and training for Polling Areas are complete, the commune has faced a notable hurdle in accurately verifying voter numbers. Because many residents work far from home and some lack local temporary residence registration, the voter lists have undergone multiple revisions to ensure that no citizen is left out of this democratic process.

The situation in Sính Phình commune, where over 98% of the population is of the Mông ethnic group, requires a highly flexible approach due to the vast and difficult terrain. Authorities have strategically placed 15 polling stations in village cultural houses, four in schools, and 11 in the private residences of village heads and reputable community figures to ensure convenience for every voter.

To tackle infrastructure gaps, the commune has coordinated with local power units for backup generators and will utilize solar-powered lights and batteries for villages like Háng Cu Tông, Đề Can Hồ, and Tủa Chử, which are not yet connected to the national grid. Furthermore, in Phiêng Báng, where mobile signals are nonexistent, temporary towers are being rushed for installation; otherwise, dedicated couriers will be stationed at nearby signal points to maintain vital communication links during the vote.

Meanwhile, Sáng Nhè commune is managing 30 polling areas for nearly 11,188 voters, including those residing elsewhere who have registered to vote locally. Phạm Ngọc Điện, Chairman of the Sáng Nhè commune People’s Committee, shared that because 99.8% of the local population consists of ethnic minorities, the commune has prioritized a trilingual dissemination campaign in Mông, Thái, and Vietnamese. This ensures that every citizen understands their rights and obligations. Beyond communication, the commune is also preparing for the unpredictable highland weather, with civil defense teams ready to assist elderly and vulnerable voters or respond to potential landslides that could block the paths to the ballot box.

Despite the persistent challenges of geography and infrastructure, the proactive and responsible spirit of the highland communes ensures that the upcoming election is set to be a resounding success. These meticulous efforts guarantee that March 15 will truly be a grand festival for all citizens in the furthest reaches of the province.
