Working with the delegation on the local side were Nguyễn Văn Dũng, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, alongside leaders of provincial departments, sectors, agencies, localities, and enterprises.

At the working session, both sides exchanged information on trade developments, import and export activities, border trade, as well as the production and consumption of key agricultural products. The two parties also discussed cooperation demands and proposals from Jiangcheng county, while connecting enterprises from both sides in goods production, supply, consumption, and foreign trade.

Along the border shared with China, Điện Biên province and Jiangcheng county share the A Pa Chải - Longfu border gate pair. This offers favorable conditions for both localities to advance trade relations, collaborate in production, link markets, and progressively establish cross-border supply chains.

During the first eight months of 2026, the province’s trade and import-export operations continued to register positive shifts. Total retail sales of consumer goods and services reached VND 22,544 billion, representing a 15.66% increase compared to the same period last year. The total value of import-export goods, services, and border trade reached USD 107.56 million, up 20.77% over the same period.

Leadership representatives of the Điện Biên provincial Department of Industry and Trade expressed the wish that both sides coordinate closely to finalize prerequisites for the early official inauguration of the A Pa Chải - Longfu bilateral border gate, while addressing bottlenecks involving transport vehicles and cross-border transport connectivity. The department also proposed that Jiangcheng county research expanding the catalog of commodities permitted for import through Longfu.

Regarding the sugarcane cultivation cooperation program in Sín Thầu commune, the provincial side recommended transitioning swiftly from acreage-focused collaboration to synchronized linkages encompassing cultivation, technical guidance, harvesting, procurement, transport, and export.

Representatives of the Jiangcheng county delegation highly valued the potential and comparative advantages of Điện Biên province, exchanging views on cooperation orientations, demands, and proposals concerning import-export activities, border trade, agricultural partnerships, product off-take linkages, and enterprise cooperation between both jurisdictions.

On this occasion, departments, sectors, agencies, and localities across Điện Biên province contributed feedback regarding Jiangcheng county’s proposals. Several enterprises shared data concerning products, production capacities, output yields, target markets, supply capabilities, and networking needs for future cooperation.

Concluding the working session in the spirit of friendship, cooperation, and mutual development, both sides expressed confidence that border trade cooperation between Điện Biên province and Jiangcheng county will continue deepening in a practical and effective manner.
