Deputy PM attends naming ceremony for public facilities in Điện Biên Phủ city

ĐBP - As part of his working visit to Điện Biên province, on March 14, Deputy Prime Minister Lê Thành Long, Member of the Party Central Committee, attended a naming ceremony for public park and streets in Điện Biên Phủ city, alongside a government delegation.

Accompanying him were comrades: Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and other provincial leaders.

The delegation participated in the naming ceremony of Võ Thị Sáu Park, located in Noong Bua ward, covering an area of 4.6 hectares. The park is named in honor of Heroic Martyr Võ Thị Sáu, a symbol of patriotism, resilience, and the ultimate sacrifice of Vietnam’s youth in the struggle for national liberation. The event carries profound significance, serving as a tribute and a means to educate future generations on revolutionary traditions.

The ceremony also included the naming of Leningrad - Saint Petersburg Street, a 790-meter road connecting Lương Thế Vinh Street to the roundabout on 7/5 Street, with a 32-meter width. This event holds great symbolic value, commemorating Leningrad - Saint Petersburg, a city renowned for its heroic resistance and unwavering support for Vietnam during the war. The naming underscores the strong traditional friendship between Việt Nam and the Russian Federation, especially the growing ties between Điện Biên province and Saint Petersburg.

Another highlight was the naming of Roman Lazarovic Karmen Street, a 250-meter road linking Phan Đình Giót Street with Võ Nguyên Giáp Street, with a 10.5-meter width. This road is named in tribute to Roman Lazarovic Karmen, a distinguished Soviet documentary filmmaker who captured historic footage of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory in 1954 and brought global attention to Vietnam’s resistance efforts.

The naming of public park and streets in Điện Biên Phủ city is an essential step in urban development and holds great significance in promoting the city’s socio-economic growth, reinforcing its historical and cultural heritage.
