Building the unity of ethnic groups in Điện Biên in the new period

ĐBP - A new spring has returned to the heroic land of Điện Biên, a place that marks a brilliant milestone in national history where the Điện Biên Phủ spirit has become an immortal symbol of independence, self-reliance, and the power of great national unity.

In the ongoing journey of reform and development, that spirit continues to be nurtured and spread widely, serving as a vast spiritual resource that illuminates the path toward building and developing the province in this new era.

The year 2025 stood as a landmark period filled with significant political events, including the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation and national reunification, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, and the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam National United Front. It was also a year characterized by a massive workload and high requirements, all unfolding against a backdrop of complex global shifts and severe natural disasters that caused heavy damage within the province. Amidst these challenges, Điện Biên focused on streamlining its organizational apparatus, concluding district-level operations, and implementing a two-tier local government model to ensure a smooth, efficient, and effective administration.

Following the comprehensive leadership of the provincial Party Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and various socio-political organizations proactively restructured their machinery. They successfully organized their respective congresses for the 2025-2030 term, ensuring quality and adherence to schedules. By promoting their role as a political core, these organizations implemented a synchronous program of action where operational methods were innovated to be more practical and grassroots-oriented. The focus shifted to placing members and people at the very center as the subjects of all patriotic movements and campaigns, thereby strengthening the relationship between the Party, the government, and the citizens.

Dissemination and mobilization were identified as core tasks and were strongly innovated. Throughout the province, nearly 1,000 communication sessions were held with over 88,000 participants, focusing on Party guidelines, State laws, and socio-economic development tasks. These efforts were deployed flexibly across different areas, with a specific focus on remote, ethnic minority, and border regions while leveraging the influence of prestigious individuals, village elders, and religious dignitaries. Patriotic movements were deeply integrated into local political life and the daily lives of people. In 2025, these organizations effectively coordinated social resources to care for the vulnerable, mobilizing over VND 48.7 billion for Tet gifts and providing rice support to more than 4,300 households.

The provincial “Fund for the Poor” successfully raised over VND 86.3 billion, which was promptly used to build or repair more than 1,100 houses for poor and near-poor households. Additionally, the program to build Great Unity houses for poor households in border villages was treated as a vital political mission. In 2025, the province completed 300 such houses across four border districts with a total budget of over VND 30.7 billion, contributing to stable lives and reinforcing the “people’s heart posture” at the national frontier. Disaster relief efforts were also deployed quickly and accurately, with the provincial Relief Fund distributing hundreds of billions of dong to help residents overcome difficulties and stabilize production.

As the province transitions into 2026, a year of exceptional importance with the 14th National Party Congress and the elections for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils, the VFF and socio-political organizations will continue to affirm their role in building national unity. The focus will remain on proactive grassroots engagement, enhancing the quality of social criticism, and ensuring democratic and legal elections. Officials, especially heads of organizations, are expected to strictly implement the “3 nears,” “5 musts,” and “4 no’s” philosophy, which emphasizes reducing meetings and slogans while increasing action, digital transformation, and tangible results.

The achievements of 2025 serve as a vivid testament to the power of social consensus and public trust in the Party and State. Deeply imbued with the teachings of President Hồ Chí Minh on great unity and the directive from Party General Secretary Tô Lâm that the Điện Biên Phủ spirit must remain a command for development, the VFF and people of Điện Biên are determined to fulfill the Resolution of the 15th provincial Party Congress. Their goal is to develop the province into a fast, green, smart, and sustainable region worthy of its heroic traditions.
