Proactively preventing fire and explosion during Tết

ĐBP - As the 2026 Bính Ngọ Lunar New Year (Tết) approaches, the demand for production, business, and the use of electricity and heat is surging, creating significant risks for fires and explosions.

Facing this reality, the Na Sang Regional Firefighting and Rescue Team, under the Fire and Rescue Police Division of the Điện Biên provincial Police, has proactively implemented synchronous prevention solutions. They are increasing inspections, pushing dissemination, and remaining ready for duty with a determination to protect the lives and property of the people.

Officers of the Na Sang Regional Firefighting and Rescue Team increase fire safety inspections at businesses in Na Sang.

In the days leading up to the holiday, the atmosphere at the Na Sang Central Market has become vibrant. Goods are gathered in large quantities across adjacent stalls, and electrical systems operate continuously to serve the year-end trading demand. Amidst this bustle, the risk of fire and explosion remains hidden if merchants become subjective in their fire prevention efforts.

At the stall of Bùi Thị Hương, a merchant at the market, clothes were found covering and overflowing onto power outlets, posing a high risk of short circuits. During an inspection, the Firefighting and Rescue Team reminded and guided her to move the goods and rearrange the position of the outlets while explaining safety measures to follow during business operations.

Along with reminders to rearrange goods, officers guide Bùi Thị Hương on how to use a fire extinguisher.

Bùi Thị Hương shared that being busy with sales sometimes led to negligence in fire prevention, but after receiving guidance from the officers, she has organized her stall neatly to ensure safety. She noted that the specific instructions from the fire police have provided merchants with better knowledge to protect their own property as well as the community.

Parallel to inspections, the Na Sang Regional Firefighting and Rescue Team is stepping up dissemination and guiding firefighting skills for local merchants and business households. In addition to disseminating legal regulations, officers have directly instructed people on how to use portable fire extinguishers and handle incidents promptly to improve initial response skills.

The team checks fire hydrants to ensure readiness for any situation.

Trần Văn Phương, a business owner in Na Sang, noted that the increased shopping demand and large stock of goods make fire risks greater, and any fire would cause serious damage to people and property. He believes that the authorities’ focus on specific guidance has helped merchants raise their awareness and proactively protect themselves.

Stockpiled goods in markets and combined residential-business households pose high risks when combined with the frequent use of electricity and heat sources. Minor oversights like burning incense, joss paper, careless cooking, or overloading electrical devices could lead to grave consequences.

Officers conduct dissemination to raise fire safety awareness for merchants at the Na Sang Central Market.

To prevent incidents from a distance, the Na Sang Regional Firefighting and Rescue Team has proactively implemented many solutions. The unit manages nine communes including Na Sang, Mường Pồn, Pa Ham, Nậm Nèn, Nà Hỳ, Nà Bủng, Chà Tở, Mường Chà, and Si Pa Phìn. Given the wide range and complex terrain, the team remains constantly ready with personnel and equipment for timely intervention. Senior Captain Lê Hoàng Hà Nam, Head of the Na Sang Regional Firefighting and Rescue Team, stated that the unit has organized legal dissemination and skill guidance, requiring businesses to sign safety commitments and arrange goods according to regulations.

Furthermore, the team maintains a full force of personnel and specialized equipment with 24/24-hour duty throughout the holiday. Firefighting and rescue plans have been tailored to the specific characteristics of each area to ensure a rapid and effective response to any situation, minimizing potential damage. For prevention to be truly effective, every citizen must raise their awareness and strictly comply with fire safety regulations alongside the efforts of the authorities, contributing to a safe and complete 2026 spring season.
