During a working session on Tuesday, the deputy chairman reviewed Tuần Giáo District’s socio-economic and national defence-security performance in the first seven months of 2024.
The district has made significant strides in two critical areas of socio-economic development: restructuring the agricultural sector by diversifying crop patterns and advancing urban infrastructure. To date, the district has allocated over 13,206 hectares of land and forest, reaching 85.4 per cent of its target. Of this, certificates have been issued for 11,059 hectares, representing 71.5 per cent of the planned total.
Despite meeting most targets and ensuring social welfare, he underscored the need to address the lag in disbursing public funds. As of July 31, Tuần Giáo District had disbursed VNĐ24.18 billion, representing just 53.4 per cent of the allocated capital. Disbursement rates for funds under the National Target Programmes (NTPs) were even lower, with only 30.2 per cent of the VNĐ61.86 billion budget utilised.
In response, the district has reallocated VNĐ91.15 billion across three NTPs, focusing primarily on socio-economic development for ethnic minorities, sustainable poverty reduction, and new rural development.
Natural disasters have also taken a toll on the district, causing an estimated VNĐ12 billion in damages since the beginning of the year.
During the session, representatives from provincial departments addressed several of Tuần Giáo’s pressing concerns, including the termination of delayed investment projects and providing technical guidance for macadamia cultivation, which is a key agricultural focus for the district. They also discussed reallocating National Target Programme (NTP) funds to better support urgent needs.
Deputy Chairman Tiến emphasised the importance of maintaining momentum in macadamia cultivation projects and the effective allocation of land and forest resources. He urged provincial departments to assist Tuần Giáo in leveraging special mechanisms to optimise capital plan adjustments.
Earlier, he conducted field inspections of key projects, including macadamia development, school construction in Mường Khong Commune, coffee cultivation in Tỏa Tình Commune, and land and forest allocation in Quài Tở Commune.
