Tủa Chùa women active in start-up movement

ĐBP - In implementing the project “Women’s start-up period 2017-2025”, the Women’s Union of Tủa Chùa district, Điện Biên province has organized various programs and activities to support and encourage women in starting their own businesses. These efforts have helped to promote the strengths and expertise of union members, enabling women to develop economically.

The Tủa Chùa Women’s Union has supported and consulted on 13 start-up ideas, four of which participated in the “Women’s start-up” contest organized by the Điện Biên provincial Women’s Union, and nine of which registered to attend a conference providing advice and support for women’s start-ups organized by the district Women’s Union. Over 50% of the start-up ideas that won district and provincial awards were deemed feasible and having potential for development and expansion.

The booths displaying products are mostly the result of the “women’s start-up” movement.

According to Vì Thị Hồng, Chairwoman of the Tủa Chùa Women’s Union, the union regularly organizes communication activities to encourage and accompany its female members in economic development and start-up efforts. The products manufactured by union members are diverse and closely linked to the local potential and advantages, making them promising.

The Tủa Chùa Women’s Union has accompanied women in their start-up endeavors, not only creating opportunities to promote and introduce local specialties but also encouraging women to be brave, overcome gender stereotypes, and strive to become economically independent.

The production facility of Tân Thái Dương fermented wild honey, an OCOP 3-star product, is one of the standout products of the women’s entrepreneurship movement.

Tủa Chùa district, with its unique geographical location and microclimate, produces distinctive agricultural products, including tall ancient tea trees.

Nguyễn Mỹ Linh, a young woman born in 1996, nurtured a passion for Shan Tuyết tea and aspired to develop and promote the brand. With the encouragement of the Tủa Chùa Women’s Union, Linh established Hương Linh Điện Biên Co., Ltd. in 2018. After nearly a decade of development, the company’s Shan Tuyết tea products have gained a reputation in domestic and international markets.

Linh shared that initially, building the Shan Tuyết tea brand faced numerous challenges, from market consumption, sustainable raw materials, capital, and product development. “The district Women’s Union’s companionship gave me the confidence to think and act boldly. Currently, our product lines and raw material areas are relatively stable, with five tea products achieving OCOP 3-star certification,” she added. Hence, Linh is one of the prominent representatives of the women’s entrepreneurship movement in Tủa Chùa district.

Another exemplary model of women’s start-up efforts in Tủa Chùa district is Thào Thị Mày, who has developed her economy through animal husbandry. Mày held: “Previously, my family faced difficulties, relying solely on farming and small-scale animal husbandry. With the encouragement of the district Women’s Union’s and a VND 50-million-loan to develop the economy, I invested in cattle and poultry breeding. Currently, my cattle herd has increased from three to 15, and my poultry flock has nearly 500 birds, generating a stable income and improving my family’s life”.

Thào Thị Mày expands her livestock and poultry breeding model.

The women’s start-up movement has contributed to changing modern society’s mindset, approaches, and gender stereotypes. It not only promotes innovative spirit and creativity in women’s economic development but also motivates women to take charge of their economy, affirm their position in their families and society, and drive local socio-economic growth.
