Điện Biên supports local businesses in expanding market for agricultural specialty products

ĐBP - To tackle the challenge of distributing agricultural specialty products, Điện Biên Province has been guiding local businesses to implement diverse solutions aimed at supporting organisations and individuals in production.

These efforts focus on market expansion, income enhancement, and fostering socio-economic growth.
At the beginning of December, Lò Thị Sương, owner of a dried buffalo meat business in Hua Thanh Commune, Điện Biên District, participated in the 2024 Northeastern Industrial and Trade Fair held in Thái Nguyên Province.
Bringing 10 kilogrammes of dried buffalo meat to the fair, Sương expressed joy and excitement as all her products were quickly sold out. She also established connections with distributors in Thái Nguyên and customers from several provinces and cities.
Similarly, Tâm Thiện Cooperative from Noong Hẹt Commune, Điện Biên District, sold 400 kilogrammes of Séng Cù rice and sticky rice bearing their brand at the Thái Nguyên fair.

Visitors were drawn to local specialties such as dried buffalo meat, Séng Cù rice, sticky rice, and other agricultural products.

Participating in fairs provides organisations, businesses, and enterprises from Điện Biên Province with opportunities to promote their products, seek investment partnerships, and develop production and distribution collaborations. It also allows them to attract customers, sign economic contracts, and expand their market reach, while simultaneously surveying consumer demand and preferences to guide future production strategies.

In addition to participating in fairs held across the country and in some provinces of northern Laos, Điện Biên has taken advantage of opportunities to organise various exhibitions showcasing local specialties at investment promotion conferences.

At the 2024 VACOD International Conference on Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion in Điện Biên, the local specialty display area left a positive impression on many delegates and businesses with its designs and quality. This contributed to promoting and bringing Điện Biên's agricultural specialty products to markets across the country.

The exhibition booth from Tuần Giáo District is attractively and impressively arranged at the VACOD - Điện Biên 2024 Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Conference.

To support cooperatives, production facilities, and agricultural businesses in improving quality and accessing markets, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade has been actively promoting industrial encouragement, trade promotion, e-commerce, and support for modern production machinery.

Efforts also include registering for trademark protection, improving packaging designs, and updating market information and quality standards to help businesses align their production and operations with market demands.

The province is intensifying efforts to raise awareness and disseminate information to agricultural product processing facilities about product origin requirements, food safety quality standards, labeling, and packaging.

It is also guiding and supporting production facilities in registering for trademark certification and transferring high-tech and organic agricultural production technologies to improve product quality and competitiveness.

The province is further enhancing support for trade promotion, investment promotion, and attracting businesses to invest in processing plants and agricultural product storage warehouses.

With a focus on developing the domestic market, particularly urban markets, and encouraging the growth of rural markets and remote areas, the province has prioritised the development of markets in Điện Biên Phủ City, Mường Lay Town, and the two districts of Điện Biên and Tuần Giáo, as well as the towns of other districts.

The province is also encouraging and facilitating businesses to invest and expand operations in these areas through advanced and modern business methods such as shopping centres, supermarkets, and self-service stores.

This strategy aims to gradually develop towns and cities into wholesale hubs, connecting the local market with regional and national markets. Specifically, it seeks to establish direct, stable links between commercial enterprises and processing facilities, trade-service cooperatives, and production facilities and households.
