The fierce flood passed, leaving devastation, especially in highland communes such as: Xa Dung, Tìa Dình, Mường Luân, Na Son... The natural disaster took the lives of 10 people, injured 14 people, damaged over 1,000 houses, and buried thousands of hectares of crops; the lifelong accumulated assets of many households were completely lost.
To help people recover soon and reconstruct their lives after the natural disaster, the entire political system entered the scene with a spirit of urgency, responsibility, and deep sharing. The Central government timely issued “orders” to overcome consequences and stabilize people’s lives. The set task was to build 80 new houses; repair and renovate 241 houses, along with a synchronously invested infrastructure system. On that basis, the province deployed a “lightning-speed” action campaign, drastically concretizing the Central government’s direction, bringing the policy quickly into practice.
Aiming to soon stabilize the lives of people in the disaster area, the provincial Military Command launched a peak emulation drive with the theme “30 days of Lightning Speed - Reaching the Finish Line”. Hundreds of officers and soldiers were mobilized to affected villages, turning places swept by fierce floods into construction sites.
Recalling that time, Senior Colonel Trịnh Đức Thiêm, Commander of the provincial Military Command, said: “We did not wait for the site clearance, but when the road was clear and there were conditions to gather materials, officers and soldiers started implementation immediately. We cleared the site while constructing, and simultaneously gathered materials to ensure the building of new houses for the people”.
With a spirit of urgency, wherever the ground was leveled, soldiers helped people erect houses there. After more than a month of continuous effort, resettlement areas were basically completed; hundreds of houses were built new or repaired, helping people move out of temporary shelters and step-by-step stabilize their lives after the natural disaster. September 26 became an unforgettable milestone for the people of Háng Pu Xi village (Xa Dung commune), when the resettlement area was officially inaugurated and put into use. Amidst the mountains and forests, houses with red roofs and newly painted walls glowed with the color of hope. On flat ground, 21 houses were built spaciously, synchronous with essential infrastructure systems such as: transport roads, electricity, and domestic water, opening a new, stable, and safer beginning for the people here.
The fierce flood swept away the wooden house built less than a year ago along with all assets of Sùng Thị Dia’s family. After the natural disaster, her family was supported by the State to build a new house in the Háng Pu Xi resettlement area. Over 3 months settling in the new place, life has gradually stabilized, and the losses of the historic flood have step-by-step receded into the past. With joy clearly visible on her face, Sùng Thị Dia shared: “Having a solid new house, my family no longer thinks about what was lost. In this house, the whole family feels secure to rebuild life together. My family is grateful to the Party, the State, and the soldiers”.
Mùa A Thi, Head of Háng Pu Xi village, said: “Up to now, households affected by the natural disaster have basically stabilized their lives in the new accommodation. People feel secure to settle down, focus on production labor, and develop the family economy; at the same time, they have more confidence in the leadership of the Party, the State, and the power of community solidarity in the journey of building life”.
Not only Xa Dung commune, up to now, people in disaster-affected areas in communes: Na Son, Mường Luân, Tìa Dình, Sín Thầu... have also settled in safe new residential areas. People are step-by-step restoring production, rising up after the natural disaster, continuing the journey of revival on lands once devastated by fierce floods.
After the natural disaster, the authorities of communes focused on mobilizing resources to improve and restore cultivation on production land areas devastated by floods.
Immediately after the floods, the Party Committee of Na Son commune issued Resolution No.05-NQ/ĐU dated August 15, 2025, on developing chili plants for field areas flooded and buried by rains and floods in the commune area. On that basis, the local authority promoted propaganda, mobilizing people to agree on converting crops according to the Resolution, step-by-step reconstructing production after the natural disaster.
In early December 2025, Na Son commune deployed a pilot model to concretize Resolution No.05-NQ/ĐU with a scale of 1ha. Participating in the model, households are supported with techniques and product consumption links. The chili plant is expected to become a crop bringing high economic efficiency, helping farmers access new farming methods, opening up a sustainable direction in agricultural structural transformation, especially on areas devastated by natural disasters.
Lò Văn Bình from Residential Group 3, Na Son commune shared: “The recent historic flood completely buried more than 3,000m2 of my family’s fields. When the natural disaster passed, I proactively hired machines to improve the ground, build embankments, and clear plots to soon reproduce. When the commune deployed the green chili planting model, I registered to participate. Guided by technical staff, up to now, the family has completed the soil preparation and sowing of new crops on the field area damaged by rains and floods”.
After many months of effort, the appearance of areas affected by natural disasters has changed clearly. People in resettlement areas live with peace of mind; production is step-by-step restored; children return to school; the rhythm of daily life returns. On the flood zone, faith is being cultivated by new houses and reviving gardens. That journey is vivid proof of the spirit of solidarity, the responsibility of the entire political system, and the aspiration to rise up of the people.
