Over the past years, the voluntary blood donation movement across the province has spread powerfully, drawing the participation of a large number of cadres, union members, youth, and citizens. This outcome was achieved thanks to the active involvement of the provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization with synchronous solutions, especially stepping up dissemination through flexible and diverse forms.
During the first six months of the year, the entire province organized 20 dissemination sessions with more than 4,000 turns of cadres, civil servants, public employees, armed forces soldiers, union members, youth, and citizens participating, while distributing around 500 dissemination flyers, panels, posters, and banners. In parallel, a network of 25 voluntary blood donation clubs with 975 members continues to be maintained, serving as the core force in mobilizing and organizing blood donation drives across the province.
From December 2025 to the end of May 2026, the province held 20 voluntary blood donation drives, attracting nearly 4,000 participants and receiving 3,412 blood units. The converted number of blood units reached 3,691 units, achieving 54% of the annual plan. Notably, the rate of repeat donors reached 55.7%, demonstrating that blood donation has gradually become a responsibility and a beautiful cultural feature in community life.
Within that chain of activities, the “Red Journey” continues to be an important highlight, carrying the message “Connecting Vietnamese Blood” and awakening the spirit of sharing across society. The program is deployed in tandem with the “Summer Red Blood Drops” Campaign, a period that frequently faces shortages in blood supply for emergency and treatment purposes. Far from being just a blood donation festival, the “Red Journey” is also an occasion to honor exemplary collectives, families, and individuals who have resiliently accompanied the movement over many years.
Responding to the 14th “Red Journey” program in 2026, on the morning of June 21, at the provincial Youth and Children Activity Center, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization organized a Blood Donation Festival for the banking sector. The program attracted more than 100 banking sector cadres and employees alongside volunteers in Điện Biên Phủ ward to register for blood donations, resulting in the Organizing Committee receiving 95 blood units to supplement the reserve supply.
Among those exemplary role models is Lò Thị Chiến, Deputy Head of an office under the Center for Receiving Martyrs’ Relatives and Nursing People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution, under the provincial Department of Home Affairs. Beginning her blood donation journey in 2004, to date, Lò Thị Chiến has donated blood 24 times, equivalent to 6,000 ml of blood given to patients in need of transfusions. Additionally, she has actively disseminated and mobilized around 320 turns of people to donate blood. For her, blood donation is a citizen’s responsibility to the community for the lives of patients.
Lò Thị Chiến shared: “With more than 20 years attached to the voluntary blood donation movement, I always consider this my responsibility and personal happiness toward the community.”
Quàng Mạnh Hải, working at the provincial Youth Union, is another prime example of the voluntary blood donation movement. As the person directly advising and organizing numerous movement activities for the youth, he has effectively advised on the deployment of dissemination and mobilization for blood donation among union members and youth province-wide. Concurrently, Hải has also directly participated in blood donations, having given blood 15 times since 2012.
Quàng Mạnh Hải shared: “To me, voluntary blood donation is not only a humanitarian activity but also the responsibility of each individual toward the community. Every unit of blood given can bring a chance at life to a patient in need of a transfusion. For that reason, I always desire to spread this message to a large number of union members and youth so that more and more people will participate.”
Exemplary individuals like Lò Thị Chiến and Quàng Mạnh Hải are just two among many beautiful flowers contributing to this journey of compassion. They stand as vivid testaments to the vitality of the voluntary blood donation movement in Điện Biên, where the spirit of “a drop of blood given, a life remains” has turned into concrete actions within the community.
Alongside accelerating voluntary blood donations, the province has driven dissemination regarding tissue and organ donations. During the first six months of 2026, four individuals voluntarily registered to donate tissues and organs. Specifically, at the 2026 Red Spring Festival, two individuals registered for tissue and organ donations, contributing to spreading the humane message of sharing even when life has concluded.
With a target of 6,800 blood units in 2026, Điện Biên still requires the joint hands of the entire community. In this regard, the “Red Journey” program will continue to serve as a vital bridge, connecting compassionate hearts and turning small actions into a grand source of life. Every blood donor is a silent hero, contributing to preserving life for patients. And from those simple, noble gestures, the “Red Journey” has transcended the framework of a humanitarian campaign to become a journey of human love, responsibility, and fine values preserved and carried forward across generations.
