Funded through the care of the Party and the State, with contributions from authorities at all levels, organizations, individuals and the wider community, these meaningful houses have helped low income households find stable shelter and renewed hope for a secure, better life.
The new home of Lường Thị Lẻ in Ta Lét 1 hamlet, Núa Ngam commune, was built with support from the “Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses” program, along with volunteer labor from local residents. The sturdy house fulfills a dream her family had cherished for years. Widowed early, she raised six children on her own. Life, already difficult, became even more precarious in their old, unsafe house. With a new home, the family no longer lives in fear whenever storms roll in.
Sharing her joy, Lường Thị Lẻ said emotionally: “Thanks to the State’s support, my family now has a solid house. I feel more secure working and caring for my children.”
In 2025, through the housing improvement program, Núa Ngam commune supported the construction of homes for 171 poor and near poor households, with total funding of nearly VND 10 billion. The program represents a vital source of support and reflects the Party’s and the State’s strong commitment to improving living conditions, particularly for families facing housing hardship.
Vì Văn Biến, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Núa Ngam commune, said that thanks to the decisive involvement of local authorities and strong public consensus, housing support was completed by August 2025. “Families are delighted to have stable housing, giving them greater confidence to develop their livelihoods and gradually improve their lives,” he noted.
In Mường Phăng commune, newly built “Great unity” houses have brought warmth to many families struggling with inadequate housing. Lò Thị Đôi of Nà Nọi 2 hamlet, a single mother in poor health, had been living in a severely deteriorated house at risk of collapse. In 2025, she received VND 50 million in support to build a new home. In addition to State funding, she borrowed money and received assistance from relatives and neighbors to complete a solid 50-square-meter house.
That same year, Mường Phăng commune supported 36 great unity houses, including 29 new constructions and seven repairs, with total funding of more than VND 1.7 billion. All projects were completed on schedule and met quality standards, providing safe, stable housing for dozens of disadvantaged families.
Quàng Văn Việt, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Mường Phăng commune, said the locality will continue reviewing households facing housing difficulties and mobilizing organizations, individuals and benefactors to support additional Great unity houses. The goal is to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing entirely and ensure long term stability for residents.
Each solid home provides a foundation for families to rebuild their lives and focus on work and production. From these houses of compassion, the warmth of solidarity spreads across villages, carrying with it hope for a peaceful and promising new spring.
