At the same time, they promoted propaganda work to raise the awareness and responsibility of organizations and individuals in complying with food safety regulations.
Right from the beginning of the action month, the interdisciplinary inspection teams increased inspections at food production, processing, and trading establishments, collective kitchens, catering services, and street food vendors. The inspection content focused on compliance with food safety regulations such as: Certificates of establishments meeting food safety conditions; health certificates and confirmation of food safety knowledge of direct processors; sanitary conditions of facilities, equipment, and processing tools; origin of raw materials and the implementation of safe food processing procedures.
At the provincial level, the provincial interdisciplinary food safety inspection team, chaired by the Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department, inspected 15 food production, processing, and trading establishments and collective kitchens. Among them, 6 establishments are managed at the provincial level, and 9 establishments are managed at the commune level. Điện Biên College is one of the inspected units; the team thoroughly reviewed legal records, facility conditions, processing procedures, and conducted rapid tests of food safety indicators as prescribed.
Trần Bá Uẩn, Principal of Điện Biên College, stated: The school always identifies food safety in the boarding kitchen as an important task, directly linked to the health of nearly 600 boarding students of the school. Regular inspections by the team help the school promptly review and rectify shortcomings and raise the awareness of officials and staff in ensuring food hygiene and safety. The school has also directed units to strictly implement food safety regulations, strengthen coordination in kitchen management, and simultaneously involve students in daily food supervision and selection.
Not only at the provincial level, implementing the Action Month for Food Safety, each commune and ward has also established an interdisciplinary food safety inspection team to conduct inspections according to management decentralization.
In Sam Mứn, the commune’s interdisciplinary food safety inspection team has developed a specific inspection plan. In which, it focused on inspecting heavily consumed food items such as meat and meat products, beer, wine, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, confectionery, vegetables, tubers, fruits, and food additives. The team inspected 28 establishments, including 3 collective kitchens and 25 food and beverage service and street food establishments in the commune. The inspection showed that the majority of establishments have paid more attention to hygiene conditions and complied relatively fully with the legal regulations on food safety.
Lê Ngọc Hoàn, Vice Chairman of the Sam Mứn commune People’s Committee and Head of the commune Interdisciplinary Food Safety Inspection Team, said: The team has stepped up inspections and supervision at food service establishments, especially street food and small-scale food processing households. Besides, attention was paid to propaganda so that business households could raise their awareness and strictly comply with food hygiene and safety regulations.
The whole province currently has 2,187 food production, business, and catering service establishments under the management of the Health sector; in which, the Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department manages 181 establishments, and the commune level manages 2,006 establishments. From the beginning of the year to date, the whole province has established 45 food safety inspection teams, including 1 provincial-level team and 44 commune and ward-level teams. Through the inspection of 910 food establishments, 906 establishments met food safety requirements, accounting for 99.6%; 4 violating establishments were fined a total amount of more than VND 7.1 million. The main violations included: Using expired goods, goods of unknown origin, and direct processors not wearing protective clothing as prescribed.
Parallel to the inspection work, food safety propaganda activities were also strongly deployed in various forms. In the first 4 months of 2026, the whole province organized 259 direct propaganda sessions for 4,044 listeners; broadcasted 259 times on the grassroots loudspeaker system; hung 114 banners and slogans, and published many news and articles reflecting on the food safety assurance work.
Phan Thị Phong Lan, Deputy Head of the provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department, stated: Implementing the Action Month for Food Safety, the provincial interdisciplinary inspection team conducted inspections of food production, processing, and trading establishments, collective kitchens, catering services, and street food vendors. Through inspections, the majority of establishments have a better sense of compliance than before, but there are still some small establishments and street food stalls that have not fully ensured hygiene conditions. The team directly guided, reminded, and requested establishments to overcome shortcomings to limit the risk of food safety loss.
After the Action Month, functional branches will continue to step up inspections, examinations, and post-inspections for food production and business establishments. At the same time, they will promote propaganda to raise people’s awareness in choosing and using safe food, contributing to protecting public health and minimizing the risk of food poisoning in the province.
