From the very first week of mobilization, environmental protection activities have become practical actions, attracting the active participation of the entire political system, mass organizations, and a large number of people, step-by-step shaping a vibrant “Green Weekend” movement at the grassroots level.
After a week of extensive local deployment of the movement, on the morning of June 13, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Na Sang commune continued to mobilize residents from Huổi Lóng and Hin 1 villages for environmental sanitation.
Taking advantage of the favorable weather early in the morning, hundreds of residents alongside officials from mass organizations and village chiefs swept and collected waste along routes, cleared vision-blocking bushes, and dredged drainage ditches. The collective labor atmosphere was urgent, reflecting the spirit of responsibility and community awareness of the residents in building a green, clean, and beautiful living environment.
While gathering the newly cleared branches with the villagers, Giàng A Sàng, Chairman of the Na Sang commune VFF Committee, shared: “After several heavy downpours, wild grass and bushes grew densely along the roads, easily obstructing people’s vision when traveling. Therefore, we decided to clear the bushes and clean up the routes this week. Next week, we will deploy waste collection and dredge drainage ditches.”
In addition to cleaning up the village environment, youth union members and residents also cared for 200 plum trees planted along the road into Huổi Lóng village since March this year. A number of trees that collapsed after the recent heavy rains have been promptly replanted and replaced.
In the view of Giàng A Sàng, maintaining periodic mobilizations not only helps raise public awareness of environmental protection and residential hygiene but also strengthens solidarity within residential communities. This serves as a practical solution to maintain and replicate self-management environmental models, contributing to the effective implementation of sustainable new-style rural development criteria.
Responding to Scheme No.01-ĐA/MTTW-BTT dated May 25, 2026, and Official Dispatch No.299/MTTW-BTT dated June 4, 2026, of the Standing Board of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on propaganda responding to the Launch Ceremony of the movement “All people join hands to protect the environment, for a green, clean, and beautiful Vietnam,” the Standing Board of the provincial VFF Committee organized simultaneous launch ceremonies across the province.
Immediately after the launch, 45 communes and wards throughout the province simultaneously deployed responding activities with multiple practical contents tailored to actual local conditions. Front Working Committees in residential areas, agencies, units, and schools were guided to implement self-management models for environmental hygiene, waste collection, and the beautification of campuses and traffic routes.
Pờ Diệu Ninh, Vice Chairwoman of the Điện Biên provincial VFF Committee and Chairwoman of the provincial Women’s Union, stated that to ensure the movement runs deep into reality, VFF levels have stepped up propaganda regarding its meaning and purpose. They have disseminated Party guidelines and State policies and laws on environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development, while mobilizing the public to classify waste at source, limit the use of single-use plastic items, build bright, green, clean, and beautiful environmental landscapes, and replicate effective models within communities.
Initial results showcase the powerful spread of the movement. Right after the launch ceremony, the entire province recorded more than 102,000 participant turns across 1,446 villages and residential groups, 78 schools, and 170 agencies and units. The forces collected and treated over 20 tons of waste, newly planted 141 green trees, cleaned hundreds of kilometers of rural and urban transport roads, and distributed 250 plastic baskets to residents to replace nylon bags and single-use plastic items.
Across localities, responding activities were deployed synchronously, creating a fresh look for the living environment. In Mường Thanh ward, the participating forces focused on cleaning the Võ Thị Sáu Park area, the regulation lake, the 7/5 route, and major traffic axes. In Mường Ảng commune, activities were carried out at the regulation lake, Tin Tốc stream, the central market, Hoa Ban Square, the field-irrigation canal system, and public works. Meanwhile, in Mường Lay ward, numerous inter-village and residential group routes, the Chi Luông area, and Nậm Cản market were simultaneously beautified and cleaned.
Following the launch ceremony organized at the foot of the Ancient Tower, the green weekend journey continues to be regularly maintained at the grassroots with the active participation of cadres, party members, and residents of Mường Luân commune. Traffic routes, residential areas, schools, agencies, and public spaces are cleaned periodically, making clear transformations in landscapes and community awareness.
Driven by the momentum of the first launch week, environmental protection activities have become a regular practice every weekend in many localities across the province. Moving beyond simple general cleanup drives, the movement also aims to shift perceptions and form eco-friendly living habits within each family and residential area.
From the initial mobilization sessions to the regular weekend maintenance activities, the spirit of joining hands to protect the environment is spreading increasingly deep and wide among residential communities in Điện Biên. Cleaner roads, greener residential areas, and enhanced public awareness stand as clear testaments to the vitality of the movement.
When every citizen contributes a small action for the environment, the movement evolves beyond cleanups and landscaping drives, step-by-step shaping a civilized lifestyle that is friendly to nature. Through the combined strength and unison of the entire political system and the People, green shades are becoming more visible across villages and streets, contributing to building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful Điện Biên.
