Since the beginning of the year, nearly 3,000 workers in Điện Biên province have found employment, reaching nearly 30% of the annual target and marking a 7% increase compared to the same period last year. This positive signal from the labor market reflects the initial effectiveness of the province’s job placement policies.
Of the 2,788 laborers employed in the first three months of 2026, the corporate supply channel remained the primary driver, accounting for 1,706 people or over 61% of the total. This highlights the recovery and expansion of the business sector, particularly among companies outside the province that are creating numerous opportunities for local workers. This result indicates a shift toward more diverse, flexible, and sustainable employment structures. The Employment Service Center under the Department of Home Affairs has played a pivotal role by collecting information from 125 companies with over 6,800 domestic and international job openings, providing this data to more than 4,400 laborers.
Nguyễn Quốc Toàn, Head of the Professional Division at the Employment Service Center, noted a significant shift in strategy. Previously, job support activities were mainly held at district centers, forcing residents in remote communes to travel long distances. Recently, the center has coordinated with local authorities to organize these events directly within communes, attracting a much larger number of participants. At these commune-level job fairs, companies like Brother Industries (electronics) and Regina Miracle International Vietnam (garments) provide direct consultations and recruit laborers on the spot. So far, 35 mobile job exchange sessions have been held in communes such as Quài Tở, Pú Nhung, Nậm Kè, and Si Pa Phìn, attracting over 2,200 participants, including the unemployed, rural women, and ethnic minorities.
A typical example occurred at the home of Lường Văn Tiến, head of Co En village in Mường Mùn commune. The session featured representatives from the Ngân Hà Engineering and Technology Co., Ltd. from Quảng Ninh province, drawing a large crowd of interested villagers. Lò Thị On, a resident of the village, shared that thanks to the event being held right in her village, she was able to obtain direct information from employers without traveling far, allowing her to discuss future career steps with her family in hopes of securing a stable income.
Special attention has also been given to career counseling and job connections for those completing their military and police service in 2026. Recently, 450 soldiers from Infantry Battalion 1 and discharged soldiers from Nà Tấu Prison were provided with labor market information and career guidance. Surveys show that a majority of these individuals wish to work in fields such as electronics repair and driving. Through the center’s connections, nearly 500 laborers were accepted into various positions during the first quarter.
Furthermore, local production and business activities have absorbed a large number of workers, aided by several major construction projects currently underway in the province. To ensure project timelines, construction companies like the Trade and Construction Corporation No.6 have been actively recruiting in communes since the 2026 Lunar New Year. Preferential credit policies have also proven effective, supporting 548 individuals in developing their own production or self-employment, which serves as a crucial livelihood for those in remote areas. Meanwhile, labor export continues to show positive signs, with 30 workers heading to stable markets like Japan and Taiwan, gaining access to modern and disciplined work environments.
