Through livelihood models, social welfare activities, and dissemination work, the program has helped many women’s union members overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives, contributing to consolidating the great national solidarity and building a firm “people’s heart position” at the front line of the Fatherland.
In Sín Thầu commune, the program’s effectiveness is clearly reflected in the changes in local residents’ lives. During the 2021 - 2025 period, the program supported the deployment of 12 livelihood models such as reproductive cow raising, buffalo raising, and pig raising with a total budget of nearly VND 790 million. From the support of plant varieties and breeding animals, many poor female-headed households have gained better conditions to develop their family economies and step-by-step escape poverty. Many practical civil works have been implemented, such as building shelters of love, clean water works, and hygienic latrines, alongside presenting water purifiers and computers to schools, and providing essential provisions to disadvantaged households.
President of the Sín Thầu commune Women’s Union Lò Khai Nu stated: “Thanks to the program’s support, many women’s union members have changed their production mindsets, boldly restructuring crop and livestock patterns to suit the local practical conditions. Many families that used to be in difficult circumstances now have stable incomes, step-by-step improving their standard of living and affording their children’s education.”
In addition to economic development support, dissemination and awareness-raising work for women’s union members have been emphasized. The dissemination contents focus on preventing child marriage, consanguineous marriage, and human trafficking; building “5-no, 3-clean” families; and maintaining security and order in border areas. Consequently, legal awareness and the role of women in families and communities have been increasingly enhanced.
At Si Pa Phìn commune, the coordination between the commune Women’s Union and the Si Pa Phìn Border Post has brought about many positive results. Over the past five years, the two units have co-organized 165 dissemination sessions in villages with 1,356 turns of members participating, contributing to raising legal awareness, the sense of protecting border sovereignty, and building a cultural lifestyle in residential areas. Many economic development support models for women have been effectively deployed.
Officers and soldiers of the Si Pa Phìn Border Post have not only provided resource support but also directly guided animal husbandry techniques and contributed more than 300 working days to help residents develop their economies. Social security activities are maintained regularly with many practical tasks, such as visiting and giving gifts to disadvantaged women, supporting poor students, providing free medical examinations and treatment, organizing a “VND 0 Tet Market,” and building four shelters of love for poor female members.
Sharing about the program’s effectiveness, President of the Si Pa Phìn commune Women’s Union Chớ Thị Mò noted: “The most meaningful thing the program brings is the turnaround in the awareness of women’s union members. Border guard officers and soldiers frequently visit the villages to eat, live, and work alongside local people, creating closeness and attachment. Women have become bolder in economic development, actively participating in maintaining security and order and protecting borderlines and landmarks.”
During the 2021 - 2025 period, the “Accompanying border women” program was widely deployed across the province’s border communes. The support content has been integrated with various emulation movements and campaigns, such as building new-style rural areas, building “5-no, 3-clean” families, and building new-era Vietnamese women. Up to now, the program has built and maintained 41 sustainable livelihood models and mobilized socialized resources of over VND 9.1 billion to implement social welfare activities. The program’s operations have contributed to improving both the material and spiritual lives of women in border areas.
President of the provincial Women’s Union Pờ Diệu Ninh stated that in the 2026 - 2030 period, the “Accompanying border women” program will continue to focus on supporting women in border areas to develop their economies and reduce poverty sustainably through livelihood models tailored to the practical conditions of each locality.
Dissemination and legal awareness-raising work for women will be accelerated, inspiring patriotism and promoting the role of women in participating in maintaining security and order, protecting borderlines and landmarks, and building strong border areas. Social welfare activities and caring for the lives of border women and children will continue to receive attention for implementation, contributing to building a peaceful, stable, and developed border region.
